Gauge pod options
I was thinking the same. The plastic appears to match OK, but it still looks like you bolted it on the dash, and the passenger can even see some kind of hole or something from the looks of it.
I still think this is the better solution, which replaces a dash piece with a matching one, so it doesn't look tacked-on. Of course, only the molds are done so these are just prototypes:

I make my own. It's pretty easy for 52mm, but I don't have a quick solution for 60mm. For 52's you can pick up a 2" piece of black sewer PVC from a hardware store and some fimo from a craft store. Cut your PVC the length of the gauge, wrap whatever part of your interior with some plastic wrap and use the fimo to mold a base for the PVC. You can position however you'd like. Then take the PVC with the fimo stuck to it and bake according to the instructions. Don't overbake - the PVC just starts to creep at the end of the fimo bake time. You may have to use some oven mitts and squeeze it back to round before it cools. After it cools, you can sand and paint, then press in your gauge and tape the whole assembly in place in your car. The only catch here is that this will leave the back of the gauge open, so this isn't a good option if your mounting on the dash, but it works great for the column or down in the console covey.

I did a quicky before I drove down to TTp to get it tune then from there drove to GA and TX. I haven't take some time to improve it at all since last November
Wow I need a vacation.
I've seen some people complain that the gauges end up blocking a lot of the cluster with it, but I haven't heard anyone say how it's mounted. Probably just 3M tape with optional drilling, like most of the aftermarket pods.

Custom Performance Engineering (CP-E). They just had to do some retooling as of the 13th, which they thought would be the last one prior to production. So, hopefully soon.

Not to ***** too much about CP-E's option (because all options are appreciated), but I already feel like I'm too low behind the dash. The other day I went over a crest and had no idea where the road went, kinda lost my gut for a second. That pod adds another 3-4" of height to the dash
BTW... I'm 6'1"

Driving an Si for awhile will cure that
(Tiny hood that you have no hope of seeing combined with a seating position that is basically right on the floor)
Getting in the Evo felt like moving to an SUV with a ridiculously high seating position. I voted for the version that placed the gauges farther back (and thus provided a lower profile), but the majority of people wanted this option.
I'm not terribly concerned, though now that I think of it it would be nice to have a digital speedometer in that center position. I really miss that from the Civic.
