Debating between 370z, Evo X, and Genesis Coupe
Just a sidenote on the luxury brands. I've owned a handful of new and late model pcars and bmws. Love the service at the dealer, as the local mitsu dealer is ghetto.
But the cost just isn't worth it, unless your retirement is already funded and you can be carefree with your cash. I try to be a cash buyer on cars, and it's really a test of your resolve to fork over that much cash for any car. Even 25k for a used evo.
It's *really* hard to derive enough enjoyment out of a Porsche or BMW to justify their cost, especially with the evo alternative.

I guess this is the part where I must go against the grain.
For one I really don't think the 350/370Z drops as many panties as most people like to say. For one thing about 70% of 350/370 owners are total douchebags who justify the greatness of the car with how many panties it can drop. Buying a car to attract chicks is douchebaggery at it's finest.
And how can it be dropping panties when it's on every g*d damn corner? I don't know about other areas, but they are freaking everywhere here. When I first saw the 370 I thought "oh that's pretty cool looking I suppose." The more I see them though not only do I notice it really isn't much of an upgrade as far as exterior aesthetics are concerned, but I also am just sick of seeing them everywhere. It's definitely not unique.
It's cute when a toolbox 370z driver decides to haul *** on a side street (probably about 500 ft long) next to IHOP where I happened to be standing. He then books *** into the parking lot to enjoy some pancakes. He finishes off this entire event by going to the local track and driving his "more powerful Z" to a no better than 14.3 quarter mile pass. And yes this actually happened. The driver of this Z looked like most of the other Z drivers with his popped collar fresh look.
This doesn't apply to all Z owners. Just A LOT of the ones I've met or seen personally.
And I must say that S2K's look like chick cars. They are so feminine to look at regardless of what model. I've never looked at one and been like "Wow, that's an awesome looking car." I see them and think "Wow, some 16 year old girl is going to love to drive that to the beach when she gets out of high school."
And people say aftermarket exhausts sound great on them. Every aftermarket exhaust on an S2K I've heard sounds like every other Honda on the planet.
Evo X's are on a similar page here because they are also everywhere. The CT9A Evo's seems to be much fewer and far between here. There must of been an Evo X explosion because there are probably 5-7 Evo X's for every CT9A Evo here.
I would still choose an Evo X out of the 3 above choices without a second thought.
STi is also a good choice, although I'll take a 2004-2007 thanks. I've seen the STi in person here a few times and didn't care for the look.

Before I start, I have to mention that I love the 350/370Z, along with the G35/G37, basically any cars woth driving. However, as I thought about it more and more, the 370Z is highly impractical and so is the Genesis for that matter. I think that the Evo is not only street friendly, but also delivers quite a punch and looks mean as %$@#$! Further, it's a 4-door which insurance companies preffer over 2 doors.
Of course it's biased asking on an Evo forum but I think most of us here give you a truthful rendering of what's probably the best choice. Of course, if you're absolutely in love with the 370Z, then by all means go for it. People are trying to convince me that I should go for something else, like a lexus IS250 or some crap. Fact is, when you're in love with a car, you just have to have it, and nobody will convince you otherwise.

Just got back from another dealer, they have an MR available. I tested the car out, car is very solid. I'm definitely up in the air about all these cars, I really haven't had a solid opinion on any yet. GM of the dealership was very cool, we had a great conversation on what I wanted to do with the car. Ended up him referring me to a good tuner shop that does e85 conversions etc... He runs a 1k HP Supra running e85, crazy. Anyways, they were asking 33k for the MR after the 2k rebate (no added options). Was wondering if that is a good deal? I personally might just wait for the '10s to come out and get one of those instead.
One more thing for anyone whose still trying to figure out my intentions, these are what my criteria fall into.
1.) This will not be my DD as I already have a DD.
2.) I'm looking for the most fun car, can be impractical, 2 seats are fine, 4 seats are a bonus.
3.) I want something that looks good and makes me want to smile everytime I hop in.
4.) Car can be fast or slow, as long as it's fun.
5.) NEEDS to be BRAND NEW (e.g. 2008 w/ no miles, 2009, 2010, etc.)

if u can afford to live with the impracticality of a 370Z
i would advice you to get it
the coupe just have a different feel from a sedan...
however, the modding cost of the 370Z are not cheap
if u intend to mod your car, i would recommend you the EVO X, very responsive to little mods
as for the genesis coupe, u might as well dont get it if u intend to sell it after u use it for a few years, the resale value are pretty crappy...

Based on your criteria, the Gen Coupe is a no brainer. For the price savings over the 370Z you can get the V6 Track Package with either the 6 speed or ZF tranny and still have enough left over for the supercharger!!

The production numbers of VIII/IXs far outstrips that of the X at this juncture.
If this isn't your daily driver and you're looking for fun, handling, looks, etc. Then I would strongly suggest the Evo X over the 370z.
The reason being that the handling on the Evo x is in my opinion better than most cars, including the 370. Also, if this is a "toy" car, then down the road you will be looking at mods and looking at a price/output ratio, the X wins by miles.
Modding the X will be less expensive and you'll get more bang for your buck, compared to boosting an N/A engine.
For me, the decision is clear, but like I said in my previous post, if you LOVE the 370z, then go for it. Bottom line, it's your money and your taste.
