Debating between 370z, Evo X, and Genesis Coupe
before the evo i had a s2k, i agree with what everyone says, its a great car and i miss it too but its a great 2nd car not daily driver, i driven a 370z and Genesis Coupe for a full day around town and both i feel are equal to each other, 370z is slighty better, but the evo is still the winner.
The flip-side is that 300 whp is a dime-a-dozen among Evos/STis. And even 400 whp is a fairly easily reachable goal, certainly cheaper than 400 whp in an S. But neither car will ever be as fun to drive as the S.
^ The problem with test driving the STi is that they are detuned. The ECU will not give you any power what so ever until the car hits 1k miles. It's their 'break in' safety. I think the car only makes like 1/2 the power.
Thanks again for the feedback guys, I'll be checking out an s2000 later today. In the meantime I'm still looking to see if I could get with someone who has a tuned X that I could check out. Only ****ty thing is that I can't find any 08 X GSR's and there are no '10s on the east coast as far as I can see. If you have a tuned X and are in south FL, hit me up (I'll buy you lunch or something
).
So far... I like the X a lot, but I don't know if the minor issues like rattles, fitment issues with aero kit, etc are gonna make me regret it. On the other hand, I love the feeling of boost as it's very addictive... I'm going to go test drive a GSR at Potamkin Mitsubishi, but I don't know if I'd get bored of it after a while. Is the Evo X something I'd get bored of after a while after I stop modding? WIll I get adjusted to the boost and take it for granted after a while? These are just some questions to edge me out a little bit more.

I swear the STi and WRX265 I test drove felt just as fast as they should've.
No, because then you'll keep modding, just take your time with the mods and you'll never get bored. You'll get used to the boost, and then mod again. I don't think you'll ever take it for granted though, even if you get used to it and stop modding. I certainly missed it when I didn't have it, and love it again now that it is back.
mod 1 - more power ... get used to it and...
mod 2 - more power ... get used to it and...
...
Then after a couple of years you start to wonder how much you really still like your car, and you see that shiny new Evo XI or 390Z, or whatever, and you go to test drive it ... at which point you take out that shiny new car, step on the gas and your first reaction will be: WTF?!? This thing has no power!! It drives like a slug. Well, at least that's what happens to me these days. Amazing how fast you can get used to 400whp and how 'slow' a 300HP car will feel in comparison. On the flip side, at over 400whp, my car is still fast enough to give me those 'pucker moments' when I track it, so even after almost 5 years now, I don't think I'll be getting tired of it anytime soon.

It'll probably go something like this:
mod 1 - more power ... get used to it and...
mod 2 - more power ... get used to it and...
...

And you can always gut the car. A 400whp Evo is a completely different machine when it shaves 600 lbs.
Honestly, I had 300 whp in the old Evo and that would've been fine for quite a very long time. I just hated the interior and turbo lag, so I went crazy stupid and headed into luxury car domain... Big mistake there.

And plus having the rear seats for luggage is convenient as well compared to the 370's Z's nothingness.
I would call an Evo a **** magnet more than anything else.
I read on a tabloid somewhere that Christian Slater bought a Bugatti Veyron, after a month he got bored with it... word on the street is he now wants the AMS Evo-8 1000whp dragster. He'll never get bored of that. True story.

If I were looking to get a new car it would be a toss up between the Evo and 370 as well. In my limited research in trying to find out about their reliability, it seems that the evo suffers from a weak tranny while the Z sucks oil quickly.
I haven't really looked into each issue so much but maybe it would be another thing to consider when comparing the two.
