FYI: 2010 Evo X Plastic Valve Cover
I bet it's for weight savings. I like it. But I'm not one to replace cheap plastic parts with heavier carbon fiber stuff. Simple is better.
My dads Endeavor is plastic as well, it looks like total crap on any car I've ever seen sport plastic valve covers (X included)! It's not for weight savings its for cost savings! The Evo's build quality went from bad to worse lol. Loosing the X and buying an 87 Starion was the best thing I've ever done, sure I'm rebuilding the top end but the car is solid through out and still weights 600 lbs lighter than the cookie cutter Evo X. Car manufacturers are making disposable cars these days, its like buying a lawn mower at Lowes knowing you'll get a couple seasons out of it, scrap it to buy another of the same terrible build quality.
Yes, at least I can get something to eat in case I feel hungry.
Plastic is probably not as strong as metal type, but it is probably enough for the current setup ( maybe not for 600whp+ who knows? )
But I'm positive it will be stronger that oatmeal.

Your financial situation forced you to sell your X and now the X is a "disposable car" and "build quality went from bad to worse" and it will last "a couple seasons" and "Loosing the X and buying an 87 Starion was the best thing I've ever done"
Dude, are you serious?
The key word in that is LOSING, you didn't choose to sell your X you LOST it. Don't **** on us because we can afford ours.
Kinda upsetting dude, I don't think you would of had this view if you were able to keep your X.

Yeah really like a plastic valve cover will have any bearing on the car's build quality lol. Automakers have been using composite valve covers for years now.
Jesus brothers, it's just a damn cover...
When Mitsu really went cheap was making a PLASTIC, freaking plastic BOV for Ralliarts instead of metal.... now that blows

Like the valve cover this is nothing new. They made plastic recirculation valves for 2G DSM's as well so does Audi/VW for their 1.8T engines and other manufacturers use them. For low boost applications manufacturers can save money and weight by using plastic body valves.
