Hey guys,

I got my car not too long ago. I noticed a rattling sound when I rev up to about 2500 to 3000 rpm in 1st and 2nd gear. the rattle is very light and short. and stops after the car warms up. I took it to a dealer and they couldn't locate the rattle since by the time I drive there the engine is already hot.

I plan to take it back to the dealer. just want some advice on what I should tell them this time.

tell them you will drop it off the night before and have them start it and listen for your problem in the morning when its cold--simple. Call them later that morning.

 

Where does it seem to come from?

I might have the same thing you do, noticed it since winter came around...

 

My dash rattles somewhere front left in the cold. I can't find it either. Only 7000 miles on my 2008.

I've come to expect this from Evo's though. All 3 my others had issues. DAMN YOU MISTU. I love to hate you.... lol

 

Sounds like it might be a tough one - especially if it's a "light" sound.

Cars make so many strange noises when cold which go away after warming up. Frustating as h3ll, but sometimes something you need to deal with.
Of course, if possible, fix it!

the sound seems to come from either the tranny or the exhaust manifold.... it is difficult to know for sure since the rattle is so light and only exist when cold... so frustrating
