Most Regrettable Evo Parts Purchases...
why? whats so bad about their product?
not too low? spring rate too low? blown struts after a few miles with them on?
i was planning on getting these.
Was wondering the same thing! I had them on my last car and they were great. Some people are saying "they suck, get coilovers" and I have some friends that tell me "coilovers suck, get springs." Its quite confusing! Coilovers are adjustable so I don't understand why they would suck in the first place, and then the springs themselfs can be that bad!
reducing handling capabilities i would understand, but like you said, a different rear sway would balance this out. im no suspension guru but i think with the pro-kit and the mullerized sways both front and rear would combat the negativity of the pro-kit.
What worries me is that if they suck, I wonder if their R1 and R2 coilovers are any good? I know several vendors suggest these as a better bang for buck compared to KW V3's etc
i was hoping someone with more knowledge would respond...
according to a chart from evo x forum, the progressive rates actually are softer than stock, but do get stiffer. it does something else from being so low i forget (someone help me out!). there's more body roll because of these reasons.
after i got my swift springs i havn't been in the suspension section of the forums lately. i already have my mind set on what i want to do.

I'm sure that's most of it. Lowering the car messes up the steering geometry without the roll center kit. Even the stock suspension can benefit from a rear sway.
The guys bad-mouthing coilovers probably had $1k sets and not the $2-3k that it takes to get something nice.

interesting - how so - it lowers the car, so center of gravity is always better. But, I wonder if the spring rate is too low or something - their sportline springs were more for looks and less for lowering, the pro-kit was supposedly more for handling...

Coilovers:
Pros- Adustable height, damper. camber.
Cons- noisy, loss of rubber top hats= really rough ride, expensive
Sport springs:
Pros- retains softer ride (compared to coilovers), cheaper, camber adjustment w/ camber bolts
Cons- cant adjust height or damper

The Robispec Streets (KW v3) and a couple others re-use the top hats. They aren't as hard as Clubsports--they actually ride softer than a GSR (more like an MR). If you're just looking for a drop and saving your teeth when you hit a pothole then it does work well for that.
