Big Thump!

This morning I get in the car, turn it on and wait probably 15-30 secs. I clutch in and put it in reverse. As I'm doing the usual, letting off the clutch and giving a little gas, I hear a HUGE thump just as the clutch engages. I mean so huge i thought for sure something was broken. I quickly clutched back in and tried again expecting the worse. this time it engaged like normal and i drove to work lol. This also happend a few weeks ago. Any ideas?

It usually happens to me when I leave the car parked for hours after having washed it: they are the brakes that stick a little.
Obviously it happens more easily if car is parked with very cold and wet weather.

I think you heard the same noise.

Yep, I just got that yesterday morning. Turned it on, and right as I started to back up, it made a big clunk sound. Since I'm in Connecticut, and it's freezing up here, I thought the noise just came from the breaking of some condensation that froze solid overnight.

I hear the same thing in my 9. If it's the same sound it's just your brake sticking or frozen. Like mentioned before, it happens after a car wash or parking in freezing temperatures

Yep, rusted rotors stuck to the pads post rain or washing. Nothing to worry about at all!

Do you use your e-brake when you park? If you engage the e-brake when parked, after a nice hot, or wet ride, they can stick. I had this happen to me in my truck a few weeks ago.
