how is evo on snow?
But I agree with the other guys who said that an Evo with snows is better than an SUV.
I doubt that there is anything faster in the snow than an Evo with no-compromise snow tires.
I don't have snow tires, i have all seasons and we got the first real snow of the winter last night. the evo handles great, the ACD in snow mode puts down the power so well there is no wheel slip unless you floor the car. car feels very stable even at 40mph speeds. taking corners can be a little trickier but still better than most other cars.
to be honest, this is an awd car with a snow mode, it handles great, but this is compared to other cars. you still can't defy the laws of physics but this car definitely maximizes the limits well.

IMHO, if you are going to spend nearly 40k on a car you shouldn't have a problem paying a little more for an extra set of snow tires. Also to make it more convenient a used set of wheels and snow tires would be optimal. That way you don't have to dismount the tires each season.
Stock summer tires in the snow and ice are seriously dangerous in any car.

get this type of tire and use it . THe tires are your connection to the road , other wise everything you have on the car worth nothing, period.

If you get a good set of all season tires you car will be better then all those vehicles you mentioned. When it comes to driving on ice the only thing that's going to be really good is a true studded winter tire, and i doubt you will find any options with the X's tire size. I have continental extreme contact DWS ($145 a tire shipped), and they are good in the snow. Not as good as the Dunlop Winter Sports ($225 a tire plus shipping) I had on my IX. I feel those were overkill; and would be for the majority of people out there.
I got the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R for my GSR X and wish I got the Blizzaks. They are beasts in the snow and ice but when its dry out they suck and slide all over the place. I perfer "gravel" mode over "ice" when playing around in the car (after pressing and holding the ASC switch till it goes into fun mode) cause I find its much more playful while staying in control.... only had one good storm this winter.

I think any tire that is awesome in the snow is pretty much a no-compromise tire that will suck in the dry.
My Blizzaks ain't so good in the dry. In fact, I don't know if I'm doing the right thing, but I set it to "Gravel" also.
And aren't you jealous of the suckers along the Atlantic coast with the blizzard they're getting?
Us Buffalonians with Evos are probably all praying for snow.
So far I like the feel of Icebears in all conditions.
