Tell her Traction control, ABS w/EBD, reinforced chassis with crumple zones and 7 air bags then show her the IIHS ratings. She wont be able to argue the safety factor which i'm guessing is the whole point why she wants you to get a "grown up car". Wives are sold on safety more than anything else especially when you have kids.

Quote: No, you should definitely agree with her. Bring home brochures for nice grown up AWD cars - Audi, BMW, etc. The Mitsu will look much better in those comparisons. Before I bought my Evo I was looking for a more grown up car - a Legacy GT...

And KPerez, let's not kid ourselves by trying to lie about the greenness of the Evo. This is the car having the honor of having the worst economy of a new production 4 cylinder in the country.
Better than a V8 or V6 of similar HP....true, no lie here.

Later, Ken

Just show her these pics from one of our roadtrips, and the kid thing will no longer be an issue.

Quote: As of right now i own an 02 wrx with some basic mods. I dont race/rally/autocross or anything. some spirited driving from time to time but thats all. I want to get a new car and because i used to own a 2.3l stroked talon, i naturally want an evo x now. she is saying no because she wants me to get a "more grown up car". She says i dont need a rally type car cause we have a 3 year old and a 6 year old. We live in CT and i want AWD because of the winters. She thinks i should get a maxima or related family car. I said if i dont get an evo i want a caddy CTS.

Help me convince her that i should get an evo x. I would rather have her agreeing with me then me just show up with it one day and deal with her being mad for a while.
few questions, how old are you? How old is she? How are you all financially?

Yeah, that's what made me switch from an Evo 9 to my X. If I didn't owe so much though, I would likely sell it for an 09 WRX or maybe even the new GTI, mainly because of money, but at least it's not the worst car in the world to get stuck with. Another question... which model and such were you looking at? Basically i'm asking what you can spend.

that's a stupid and chauvinistic statement. I hope you aren't married and if so, i'd be willing to bet you don't talk to your wife like that... if you do I hope she leaves you.

thats the large style stroller too.... hell even in my suv i still use the parachute style mini strollers. could fit 2 in the evo x no problem as well as two car seats. only thing that sucks is if you have a rear facing child seat.... im tall so it has to go in the middle of the rear seat.

Go for the '10 MR Touring. It has all the creature comforts, and it doesn't have a wing, so it looks less like a boy-racer. It's perfect.

If you don't get it, then suggest the Ralliart Sportback.

As much as I like my X, I can't help but thinking that, with two children, strollers, luggage, etc, an STi would have been a better choice.

I mean, yeah, you CAN fit a stroller in the trunk, but the picture proves the opposite too; that's *ALL* you can fit in the trunk.

The Ford Taurus SHO is, in my mind, a great "family oriented" fun car. Each to their own, though.
