wingless or not?
If you are serious about going wingless, I would buy a wingless trunk and get it painted. And then you can keep your complete wing/trunk on the side. If it needs painting, then get that painted too. The cost to paint everything now will be less than getting it done later. If you are really short on cash you can sell the wing/trunk to compensate for the wingless trunk. The wingless trunk is only $300 though. Just make sure you get the right one (no wing holes and has/doesn't have FAST key hole).
Another option is to go and have the holes filled in. Drive the car around and see what you think. You can always redrill it and put it back on. Having it filled in later and repainted will cost a lot more.

Wingless is nice. I have mine wingless at the moment. Tonight, it caused an srt4 to come up on me on the highway really ballsy (thought i wasnt an evo)....

I went ahead and ordered an RS trunk lid when I bought the car. Shaved the keyhole on the RS lid and swapped it out right away. Now I have a winged and wingless set-up.
But,.....since I hate the IX wing...any one in the market for a TB IX lid with stock wing that has about 30miles on it

Go wingless if you want, or stayed winged if you want. Either way you've opened up a timeless can of worms with all these varying opinions that really dont matter in the long run....just do your thing right
For those that say a evo without a wing is not a Evo, does that apply to the MR Touring, too?
To me the wing is sort of like a Mustang with big bold racing stripes, makes the owner feel good, but it it does not do much for performance.
Car savvy people that really know what to look for can easily pick out a BMW M or a Audi RSx etc from their more common kind, for example. You don't need badges and wings etc.

F*cking ridiculous number there. the curb weight of the MR-T is 3624 a MERE 30 lbs over the MR which itself is ONLY 77 lbs over the GSR. so the MR-T is 107 lbs overs the GSR...
as for the wing, how many of you have ACTUALLY seen a wingless evo IN PERSON???
imo some of the pics of wingless evos make the car look worse than in person. in person they look much better imo.
for me, wingless is awesome. i dont race so i dont need the downforce, and the sleeper look is better for me. better rear visibility, less drag, etc...
wingless FTW!!!

R&T's test weight was a hair over 3900lbs, after actually weighing the thing. IIRC, its curb weight was cited at ~3700 (3690 to be exact). I may still have the issue around the house.

If you enjoy going over 70mph regularly for good amounts of time and not necessarily in a straight line, keep the wing, it's there and that large for a purpose.
I like change so I picked up this spoiler for days I want a new look. The only difference, in the pic, is my car is I have RE30's. It does provide more down force than no wing but you still have a good amount of rear end wobble at higher speeds.

After driving for a few months with the rexspeed I switched back to the stock wing because I don't like the wobble.
Our 3" exhausts draw more attention than the wing.

The curb weight is cited at 3624 in any place I've seen it... got a link to this test? I couldn't find it in the Taurus SHO vs Evolution MR Touring article...
If I remember this thread in a few months I'll come back and give my impression of the big SSS spoiler with aero gurney flap vs wingless with the MR lip spoiler.
I've driven the car with 18x9.0 +25 using stock rubber and lowered on Swift springs with the SSS spoiler on, and in a few months I'll be driving it again with everything the same except no spoiler (well, small lip spoiler).
