So how fast can you go until do luck or other trunk lip loses their functionality?

Quote: WING OFF!!! Unless your car travels above 90+ or over 130+ the wing creates more drag than downforce...not to mention it looks like a ricer burner. If you want a lil lip, they have small lips for the trunk or buy the duck lip trunk for about 1,000.

I wish I had an answer for you. The tail wing on a Porsche 911 turbo produces 148 lbs of downforce at 90 MPH. Any useable downforce is only going to effect the handling of the car at high speeds. For a car driven on public roads this is not going to be noticed by the driver. Those who drive at higher speeds will notice a difference. The two benchmarks for noticeable downforce changes occur throughout a vehicle's increased velocity but is substantially noticed at 70-90 and 130-150.

The equation is fairly simply and anyone can preform it.

The equation to figure just how much downforce your wings or spoilers have is:

D = 1/2 x (WS x H X AoA) x f x p x v^2

D = Downforce
WS = Wing Span in Meters
H = Height of wing in meters
AoA = Angle of attach (Angle of attack is the angle between the lifting body's reference line and the oncoming flow.)
F = Drag Coefficient
P = Air Density
V= Velocity (speed)

At the end of the day, my cars have always been daily drivers with track time fewer than 5-10 times a year. A car without a spoiler produces less drag on a vehicle.

You can't argue there's a nice clean look without the wing,

But I like mine personally

According to Mitsubishi's JDM parts catalog, the lip spoiler generates +0/+4kgf at 100km/H and -1/+14kgf at 180km/H (front/rear respectively). They also claim -1.0% CD.

Quote: alot of people have good points here but here... I am also in my 30s and I am really considering taking the wing off. I will however pic up the Rexpeed wing... the smaller one that fits over the OEM holes and still lets you swap back if you want. I don't like the completely wingless look either.

One thing I have to say though is that if you go wingless you have to lower the car.... otherwise it looks funny.... my 2 cents
Can someone post the link to the Rexspeed spoiler that covers the holes from the OEM wing? The type 1 on their site:

http://www.rexpeed.net/new2007/produ...php?serial=182

says it works with ot without the stock wing, which implies it would not cover the holes.

This is probably the reason some people go wingless. Its something different to do. Its a subtle modification, but different..
