I get the same mileage in traffic and on the highway going back and forth to work. 23-25 on the crap vegas 91. I drive to phoenix once every other month and on those trips i get 300 to 330 miles one tank. I baby the crap out of it and it really takes a lot of effort keeping the car in higher mileage w/o slowing down.

and yes i get over 300 miles on a single tank. From the gas station 1 block from my house to the station 2 blocks from my mother's house in Glendale, Az, it is 309 miles.

My details:

1. Mostly city driving in 35-60 mph areas with few stop lights.
2. Commute to work is 18 miles or so.
3. in town I average 19-21 depending on how I drive (240-260 range)
4. average 23 on highway
5. can get 24.5 if cruising on highway at 65mph (300-330 range)

All the above off the dash readout. I have also not done any timing/mivex enhancements for mileage increase.

What the ****? Seriously, stop doing that. Stop using the damn LCD read out. Just do an actual, math based, takes-10-seconds calculation. Don't use the LCD. We don't CARE what the LCD says. The LCD could say "Jesus lives in Vegas", and we wouldn't care.

And again, this is why this stupid thread exists, lol.

Division is tough!

I didn't b/c I don't care enough. If I cared so much about my mileage I would have bought a Prius and got great mileage, though stopping might have been a bit^&.. LOL

If you don't want my data points just throw them out then...

Not an Evo X, but I have two other data points showing that it's quite easy to beat the EPA highway rating. City... it all depends on your driving habits.

In my 2005 Evo, city driving, I'd get between 13-17mpg. 13 if I was having a lot of fun, 17 if I babied the hell out of it. I generally got about 15mpg in the city. On the highway, I generally got 26mpg. This was over a few 1000 mile trips between LA and San Francisco. Fuel mileage always calculated by miles driven over gas pumped. As these calculations were done over a 1000 mile trip, it minimizes the error due to pumps filling the tank to different amounts.

In my 2005 S2000, rated at 23mpg, I got 29mpg over 1400 miles driving from Austin to LA. Much of that was spent at 80mph.

I attribute the gains in mileage to drafting. I generally keep a 1.0-1.5 second gap to the vehicle in front of me. And while this is somewhat close, people in LA follow closer than that in general driving! Oh, and I find the biggest thing on the road to draft. That wasn't hard to do in west Texas

I consistently average 19-20mpg (tank fillup - based calculation). I mostly DD the X, and my daily commute is 80% highway, 20% city. I use Hiboost's cruise timing mod (look this up under tuning forums). I DO NOT shy away from boost, cuz I pass by 2 major freeway junctions which does have lousy traffic, and there are plenty of needed accelerations.

My car is bone stock.

I average about 21-22mpg each week. My commute is about 20 miles each way to/from work with a mix of city and highway (30%/70%). I don't drive the car hard at all during the week during my commute. I baby it. I think that's how I average that mileage. And, I calculate mileage by looking at actual mileage and dividing by number of gallons of gas used. I'm usually around 280 miles driven when my fuel light comes on and I usually fill up about 12.5 gallons.

So, yeah, those people claiming 29mpg are full of it. I baby this car and I can't get anywhere close to that number. Even if it's 100% highway driving, the best I can get is 25mpg.

Those are all highway miles. I was able to crack the 300 mark myself. It's the city milage thats horrible.

Nothing wrong with wanting a car to at least provide the same MPG as more powerful, faster, heavier cars (Like the porsche 911 turbo). The EVO X's fuel milage is pathetic, even for a performance car, there's no way around it.

I do 99% highway and most I do is around ~280 miles if I take it easy and cruise 65-75. Seems when I start going under 60, my mileage takes a nosedive on the highway.

I once saw it say 300 miles til next fillup, but I don't think I've ever done that. I've done < 240 with E light flashing and filling up around 12.4gallons =(

I'm bone stock.
That's exactly what I get. Before tune and after the tune. I've never got as high as 26 on the highway, 23 is the most I ever got. I wish I was getting over 200 miles on a tank. Not sure why some folks do and other folks dont?

I've gotten 330 miles to a tank also with more to go. This was with all the boltons and meth on a trip to ocean city, md with passengers. Just this last weekend i had 200 miles easy with more than a 1/4 tank to go, being city and highway. Keep the mph between 65-75 and you're ok.
