EVO X Seats Staple Issue Fix
EVO X Seats Staple Issue FIXED
I just recently purchased some EVO X seats for my STI, and noticed that the passenger seat has the dreaded staple issue. I read a few threads on here showing how to take the plastic seat harness off to expose the fabric, but I am weary of trying it. Obviously I can't go to a dealer like many of you have, and I want to attempt to fix it myself. So the question is, if anybody has successfully re-stapled, or come up with another permanent fix, can you post a how-to. As of now I am just pushing the fabric back up, but a few of my fat friends manage to push the fabric back down again when they sit in the seat.
Thanks

I was thinking that too, but you know what they say, if you want it done right...
It seems eventually everyone with EVO X non-MR seats is having this issue (correct me if I am wrong). I am wondering if it is specific to earlier manufactured years only?, mine are from 08. I am sure someone out there has a how-to with step by step instructions. I am mainly concerned on the type of staples used, and if the fix was something that was permanent.

I brought my X to the dealer for this issue, and they sent me to a upholstery shop, and they stitched the fabric in the front and the back to gether. It only took them about 45 mins to do both the front seats.
In Hudson's pic it shows exactly where the staple(s) pop out.
You can see the staples popping out very clearly in this pic (these aren't my seats, but another guy that was selling them).

Stitching does seem like a good solution, but it would need to be done by a pro. Anybody have a ballpark figure of how much this would cost? I am thinking $50 tops for both seats.
For the people not having this issue it may be because of these reasons:
A) You or the people sitting in your seats aren't heavy enough to pull the fabric down when you/they sit down, or get up out of the seat.
B) Something was changed in manufacturing of these seats in later years (> 08).
Like I mentioned earlier, I am not having this issue with my drivers seat, because I suspect that I am not heavy enough to put stress on the fabric.

No reason to pay for it I did mine in less than an hour. All you have to do is pull the plastic covers off by pulling the front and back halfs apart at the seam. Then just loop some black thread from the front to the back several times pulling it tight and tie it off. I don't know how to sew or tie knots but it was simple. I would not pay to have this done.

Yeah I got the same problem, when I get a chance I'm going to stitch that bad boy together myself. Who said home economics doesn't pay off!!! Gotta find my sewing kit!!
I just pulled out the staple and pushed the fabric back in and haven't had any problems. I was surprised that fixed it because I thought I would have to sew it. Try it and see what happens before you pay anyone. Can't hurt
Same, I took it back to the dealership, and that's what the service manager did with my seats. I was pretty skeptical and thought "WTF?" at first. But surprisingly that flap hasn't come out ever since then. And it's been over 4 months.
