i think im officially losing my mind...again...

SO, anyone who knows me or my history...knows that i can never seem to make up my mind and just settle on a damn car.

my history:

i buy a car, spend reckless money on it and then change my mind and sell it before ever making full use out of it, either because of frustration or i want something else, or i just feel the current car isnt "right" for me.

car history:

98 integra gsr - 5k in mods - had 1 year - sold for type R
01 integra type R - 18k in mods - had 2 years - sold to prevent theft
EVO 9 MR - 10k mods - had 1.5 years - sold due to accident and lack of interest
01 S2000 - 4k in mods - had 9 months - sold due to missing AWD turbo fury of evo
EVO 9 MR - 5k in mods - had 6 months? got bored, sold for more racey and raw car
05 S2000 - 25k in mods - had 1 year - got impatient with body shop after car got hit in accident, and jumped to an EVO X. After i picked up the S2K from the shop...i sort of regretted buying the evo and was stuck with both cars...but couldnt afford both, so sold the S2K, since i had just bought the X.
EVO X GSR SSS AERO - Current - 20k in mods - Had a year at end of this month.

Basically...my X is 424whp, 386wtq, has massive tires, 300lbs weight reduction, handles on rails, goes like hell, only has 5000 miles on it...looks pretty nice, BUT........
I really am starting to think i buy evo's just because i want a fast track car that is easy to drive...not because i actually really truly enjoy the car...

I dont DD my evo, i hardly drive it...like 5k miles a year...at most...and i dont go to bed dreaming about it or wishing i was in it, like i did with the s2k or the ITR...

My X is track-ready, but also streetable. Should be pretty quick on a roadcourse.

I like the X and i liked my past evos...but i dont love the cars. They are kind of boring me.

I think, i want something raw and racey and more exotic looking again.

Im kind of sick of this 3000+lb bull****.

So, im considering selling my X, fully modded, with only 5k miles, all options, in great shape, for like high $30k's. I still have all the stock parts as well.

And im considering these cars:

Lotus Exige or Elise
Honda S2000 (yeah i know...had 2 already)
Acura NSX

If i bought the Lotus Exige...id more than likely leave it pretty stock...maybe do an exhaust, a rear diffuser, maybe some wheels and tires, a tune...not sure...
If i bought the Lotus Elise...id more than likely do a K20A swap, enjoy it for a while and then maybe SC or TC it later...also a possibility on the exige...
If i bought the Acura NSX...id more than likely do coilovers, wheels and tires, maybe some sick carbon/kevlar seats...exhaust, intake...comptech SC?
If i bought the S2000... full suspension, crazy wheel and tire setup, slam it, GT wing, aero...sick interior...

Im leaning towards an Exige...with a K20A eventually...being that the car is already 2000lbs, and i havent removed any weight...

HELP ME!!! IM LOSING MY MIND!

Should i just keep my damn X and stick it out till its paid off and then buy another toy? Wont be paid for like 4 years...

Wow, you gotta just pick something and stick with it if you're going to mod like that! With the way you trade cars continually why not just do short leases and keep them relatively stock?

Sounds like you definitely liked the S2k's more than your Evo's though.

What do you do for a living? you could have bought a ZR1 with the money you spent in mods a lone!!! stick with the EVO it looks sexy and seems like its got some power 424 WHP!! then save up for an s2000. If you don not mind me asking what did your 2nd s200 sell for? I like to think of cars as a relationship that you build with the car and you keep it forever kind of like a girl do you go through a lot of girls? if so just find a good one stick to it and it will probably solve your OCD with buying cars!

My advice would depend on your current financial situation. Looks like you've gone through 7 cars in about 8 years and spent a LOT of money on mods. Since you said the X won't be paid off for at least 4 years (meaning you had to finance it), I'm going to assume you don't have loads of money to continue doing this "buy a car, mod it, sell it, repeat" for much longer - not many of us would.

So, depending on your personal situation I'd recommend spending more time picking a car before you buy it. Get behind the wheel, take a few weeks/months to make your decisions.

I don't understand asking a forum what car you should keep / buy next. How does asking people on a forum which car you should buy help you find a car that YOU will like?

You say you don't daily drive these things... then in my mind, why do you keep going with every-day-type cars (a category I think the S2000 and Evo fall into)? With the amount of money you put into these things, why not go for something exotic, but also fast? The fact is, your Evo is faster than the Lotus. Same for the NSX. And you obviously don't love the S2000 or you would have kept one of them.

If I were you, I'd have one thought: Ariel Atom.

The thing is basically targeted directly at you. It can be sold as a fully-assembled "Kit car", so it can be made legal in most states. Some of the older ones came street legal from the factory (depending on state, not sure about NH). Or just rip it up on the track. It even has the K20 you want to put in the Lotus, and can be had supercharged. Beyond that, it's basically the fastest car you can buy for a reasonable amount of cash. Even the base 219hp version will eat a Corvette ZR1. Good luck getting sick of that!

It'll be more work to get legal than simply rolling a Lotus off the lot, but I think you'd enjoy it a lot more. And I doubt you'd sell it, which it seems is the point.

First you should ask your self, seriously what are you expecting from your car?
if you just want to have fun having different cars...enjoy it, keep it that way, I wish I could change my car every year and put so much money on them, some guys change girlfriends every month, other change watches, jewelry, shoes. You change cars, as far you can afford it, I don't see why not
There is no perfect car, there is always something missing in each one. Why you don't try a GTR?

Yeah, I lost my mind a long time ago when it comes to cars!
97 Civic EX(Did the mod thing- intake, header, lowering springs, wheels)
98 Type R(sold it 2 yrs later, then bought it back something like 6 months later)
97 M3(actually had it for 3 yrs)
05 Evo MR(kept for 2 yrs to get a Tacoma truck- dumbest move of all time
07 STI(kept for a yr-traded it for a 08 STI
And now my X is going to be a keeper!! So, I can relate to ur thinking process my friend. Like what has been said, your much better off keeping the car stock or nearly so, if u flip cars like we do. My 2 cents is that u have to be happy with the car u drive because life is too damn short!!

I don't think the GT-R is a good option if he's tired of 3000lb+ cars.

You're very indecisive. You really need to just pick something and stick with it. I don't suggest the s2000 because you've already gone through two of them and something about them didn't satisfy you.

All I can suggest is either A) keep the Evo X, stop modding and enjoy the car (it really is a track beast at those levels). B) sell the Evo X and get a camry. You're blowing too much money on mods my friend. Doesn't sound like you can continue to do so. Maybe modding cars isn't for you lol

Either way, sexy car

Yeah, that's what kept me from recommending a GT-R. That, and his X is probably faster than a GT-R given the money he's got in it.

I like the X because of the rarity of it, around me anyway. I can literally drive for weeks and not see another one and my sales territroy consists of 9 counties.

I was going to suggest the GT-R as well since you've done the Evo/ S2000 thing quite thoroughly but it's curb weight is not what you're looking for.

I'm going to have to suggest the Daytona coupe kit car. That will be exotic and race-y and completely awesome.

http://www.superformance.com/coupe.aspx

You have blown an insane amount of money on mods. Of course the reality is that the best solution is to keep the car since you will probably take a 75% write down on the mods (best case). To me it's only rational to mod cars you are going to keep and spread the loss over many years (since for the most part owners are the only people to value mods).
