2010 Evo X FMIC install bracket different than 2008

Hi guys. I purchased a 2010 Evo X MR last month. I just received an AGP fmic and tried installing it. I noticed that the instructions given showed a different lower stock bracket. I was UNable to use my bracket to secure the lower part of the AGP fmic because there were no holes for the bolt given to me by AGP.

I called AGP and explained. Ben from AGP was very helpful and patient. I emailed him pictures (the ones shown here) of the bracket I have. We concluded that the 2010 Evo's have a different bracket than the 2008.

To AGP's credit, Ben is sending me his very own 2008 bracket to me for free and will be supplying 2008 brackets to any 2010 owners if they buy their fmic for a small fee. I ended up installing the AGP fmic anyways as the ic couplers and the side mounts somewhat secured the fmic and will be installing Ben's 2008 bracket when it arrives.

Take note. If you're ordering a fmic, tell the vendor that you have a 2010 Evo and the lower stock bracket might be different than the bracket they have became familiar with.

As with my experience with AGP, I give it big thumbs up.

Does that mean Mitsu started using Ralliart brackets for the Evo X?

Ya, I have my front bumper off right now & about to install my ams i/c & piping. I knew the bracket was different, & I told my tuner this but my i/c looks like the 2008 version type brackets! F@%k. I guess I will have to see if I can make it work.

Edit* I realized After that I got the right i/c after all. The 2010+ i/c comes with different brackets welded on the bottom & extends about 3" back. You have to remove the old black steel bracket with 4 bolts that are right behind the rad. They are a pita to get out because u can't get a socket on them. I used a wratchet wrench & could only turn maybe a 1/4 turn @ a time. That bracket is heavy. It looks like a big rectangle slab of lead or something is attached?! I would like to know the purpose of it because i had to remove it to do the install. Also I had to re-use the stock licp because the ams licp needs to have the airbox bracket removed. I am using it to mount my k&n intake heat shield. Anybody with the stock airbox, the ams licp will not fit! Besides, the ams licp is the same size as stock but smaller from the bov/dv branch to the throttle body? Weird!! Another thing; when I popped the plastic caps off the i/c, there was a bunch of metal dust & small particles inside. That can't be good for the engine. I just sucked it out with my shop vac.

Ya ll need to learn how to use Search. There is a thread somewhere with someone showing how he used a strip of metal bolted to the 2010 bracket that allows the older IC to bolt up. Quick, simple, ingenious.
