Evo X Windshield Different from STD Lancer?

I've searched and found different answers on this for the X windshield. Just received my first crack this evening (about 24" long) on my Evo and called around. Glass shops are telling me the glass is the same as the standard Lancer. Some threads online are saying the Evo X windshields are "lighter" than the standard Lancer's.....

Does anyone know for sure if the Evo X windshield is the same or lighter than the standard Lancer windshield?

I just ran into the same problem last month. I went to the dealer and the Evo X and Lancer (new 2008+ models) have the same windshield part number. But.. for OEM glass they wanted some crazy amount that insurance wouldn't cover. I ended up getting aftermarket glass, and it is thicker, which is annoying because now the window molding by the roof sticks up and doesn't sit flush.

Thanks for the info. Other than thickness and molding sitting flush, any other problems? This is what I was concerned about......dealer says same part number, but aftermarket is different.

How bad is the molding sticking up with the aftermarket glass??

No problems yet. The top molding just sticks up about 3mm higher than I'd like.

I think the last gen evo's had lighter glass then the lancer, the current gen windshields are the same.

Add me to the list of people with a broken windshield. Hit a bump on Saturday, and BAM.... 2 foot long crack on the passenger side. Getting a new one tomorrow, but it's super lame.

I had mine crack last week due to a small rock hitting the top of the windshield on the highway.

Replaced it with aftermarket glass. The only thing that pisses me off is now my rear view mirror isn't "snug" so it vibrates when driving, REALLY annoying.

^^^

+1 Same thing here. I pushed the mirror "down" or tried to put it on better. It helped but not much.

Got mine replaced last week with an aftermarket. Wiretap is right, the moldings do protrude a little bit more but overall the fit is very acceptable.

Strange I remember reading a spec somewhere that the glass is thinner on an x than a standard lancer!

Has this been confirmed? That there are 2 different windshields or are they the same?

I just got a crack several hours ago from a big *** rock that was out for blood...and we're having a good ol' cruise.

Also Im talking about an EvoX here, apparently from what Im seeing on the forums is there ARE differences in earlier Evo's 6/7/8 ect.

When mine cracked, I had an aftermarket on installed. It was only like $120 and they came to my job. It is noticeably thicker but I like it. I have had a few rocks fit the windshield and it doesnt crack like the OEM one. It isnt as loud when it rains either IMO.

Honestly I would like to have as close to OEM as possible. Yes the Rain sensor windshield is FAR more expensive than the one with out.

But My question still remains. For the Evo X are there different windshields from the lancers and the Evolutions, excluding the rain sensor windshields.

It's different only for rain sensing

I had my non rain sensing windshield damaged.i called Mitsubishi and the part numbers.

Evo non-rain sensing windscreen - 6102B091
rain sensing - 6102B082

The OEM pieces around The glass

Upper moulding - 6107A013
Stopper - MR520530
Lower Moulding - 7407A052
lower windshield spacer - MR957780

These parts were checked by vin on my 2013 GSR.
