Voided warranty question
I think alot of the times it depends on the dealer.
I'm lucky enough to have a mod friendly dealer in my area. They're all very good people from the sales guys to the techs and sales manager.
I think alot of times if you develop a rapport with a certain dealer and "grease the wheels" so to speak (i.e. oil changes, tire purchases etc.) they're more apt to help you out with a problem and work with you.
I asked my dealer from day one what they thought about mods and tunes and he said they have no problems with either mods or tunes of any kind, since they know the stock tune sucks, and would not just void the warranty for the hell of it. Even if their were a problem it would have to be linked to the actual mod itself to make the warranty null and void.
Again I think it all depends on the dealer you go to and the personal relationship you develop with the people there. It helps that my dealer is small enough to where I'm not just a face but a name and since their so small they strive to keep my business. Every time I go there the techs are taking me in back to show me a customers Evo with a new bolt on or gadget and not to laugh and tell me their warranty is now garbage but because they know I'm an enthusiast and I would appreciate it.
Yeah they dealerships are expensive as hell but paying a few extra dollars for them to do the oil change will help me down the road if an issue does arise.

Now are they putting in conventional Mobile 1? Or MB1-Synthetic? I use synthetic in all my vehicles and pretty much any engine I've owned, not a problem yet and I run it in my lawnmowers. Haha. Never a problem with any. Ever.
So if I use Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic which I've heard is better than Mobile 1, they'll have an issue...Damn.. lol. So pretty much JUST Mobile.. :/

That sound fantastic. I hope the dealer I go to in Poughkeepsie NY is like that.. I'm planning on buying my GSR soon, so I may just pass that question as you did by them. How much is a usual oil change there? Or how about if I change the oil myself and keep all the receipts for the Mobile 1 I buy? That would be proof I bought it on that date and I would keep all from that point on.
My oil changes at the dealer in Albany are around $60. If you change the oil yourself it's probaby about half that. It's always good to keep all your service records regardless.
I take it you're going to Dutchess Mitsu?

In reality, any interactions with Mitsubishi or its dealerships start out as "Prove to us that we have to honor the warranty". If it's stock, they'll blame "abuse". When they start checking tire wear patterns for claims against problems with your seats, you know there's a problem (I didn't make that up, it happened to me).
The law says "you(Mitsubishi) have to prove that what I changed caused the failure." The problem being that you have to take them to court to assert this.
You can always try mediation. I was going through my glovebox the other day and noticed Mitsubishi even includes the form in the User Manual
. "We know that we're going to screw you and you're going to want this, so we'll just make sure you have it to save time later."

"We know that we're going to screw you and you're going to want this, so we'll just make sure you have it to save time later."I had another incident similar to above quote when they tried to tell me that the reason my carpet anchor failed three times on my VIII was because I had modified the car (power under the hood). I told him that I didn't come here to get engine work, I came here to get my carpet anchor fixed. It took me complaining on their customer satifaction survey to come back around and stop being dicks about it.
I treated my X like it was out of warranty ever since 2000 miles.
warranty FTL If I had any problems I think I'd go to your dealer since they seem to be mod friendly. I want to add the intake and an exhaust. Thats about it for the time being. Think they'd have problems with that?

Yeah. That's where I plan on buying my X when the time comes in September. I just think it's more practical and cheaper for me to change it myself. Since the Mitsubishi dealer is quite far seeing as im in Phoenicia, NY most of the time.

If you're going to do most of your own service then I wouldn't limit yourself to just Dutchess. I drove to NJ to pick up my X and the extra mileage was worth the deal I got. Since you're a bit closer to NYC, NJ, PA etc you might want to look into dealers in those states as well. Since you're "found business" or someone they wouldn't normally get business from you may be able to strike up a pretty good deal.
This is a very intersting thread, the owner of the dealer offers to install my after market parts at my dealership.
I wonder if he's going to use that against me if anything were to go wrong.
San Rafael mitsubishi.... He built a time attack evo ix.

my tuner saved "my stock map" in the computer and he just put right back in...so it will have my vin and the "rom id" right?
While the VIN and other vehicle-specific information is stored in an assortment of computers in the vehicle, it is NOT in that map that gets d/loaded, mod'd and re-flashed to the car. Same for the TPMS information.
Mitsubishi even includes the form in the User Manual . "We know that we're going to screw you and you're going to want this, so we'll just make sure you have it to save time later."

Mobil 1 is all synthetic - always has been. Mobile is a city somewhere in Alabama and is not known for being in the awl (oil) bidness. No idea if they have a football team.
The conventional oil they put in is "Mobil 5W-30 CLEAN 5000 Conventional Motor Oil". The part number on my invoice was 98HC44 and they charged 5.06/qt.
The next time I went in for an oil change the part number was 98HC54 which is Mobil 1 extended performance synthetic and they charged 13.81/qt.
I was trying to figure out the price difference and that's when I found out they had put in conventional oil the first time.
Needless to say I change my own oil now, and I buy 5 quarts of Mobil 1 for $28 at walmart.

And well obviously that was a spelling mistake ya nut. Haha. Mobil*
