Evo x options

Hey guys, after much debate i think i've decided to go with the evo x gsr because it seems to have a much better drive train then the subaru and its been unanimous that the evo is a faster car with mods (so far). I was wondering if any of you guys recommend any extras such as the sight and sound and the ground effects package. Also i was wondering how the paint is on these cars, I'm interested in the wicked white and i cant tell if it's a metallic or not (also like the blue but im undecided). Thanks for all the feed back guys, this forum has been a huge help in my decision.

I am going to purchase Evo X once lease on my GTI ends. I've been reading these 2 big Evo X forums almost everyday... I learned a lot.

I really like SSS package. I wouldn't get my Evo without it.
However, I believe 2011 model GSR is coming with SSSL which add leather interior and sunroof. I think cloth Recaro seat in 08 or 10 GSR looks crap compare to MR or MR-T seats. I am wondering what kind of leather seat they are going to put in 2011 SSSL GSR. I don't really care about sunroof, but I think you have to get it together.

I heard paint on Evo is very thin. I am going to do clear bra soon after car purchase.
I believe WW is flat white. It's not metallic. Phantom Black has metallic flakes. This paint is considered as "premium paint" and is little bit more expensive than white.

hmmm any idea when theses 2011s are going to be rolling in? Im heading up to the dealer tomorrow to test drive one more time and to make sure I know what im getting. Never owned a white car but man these ww evos look soo nice. I agree that sss package is nice, and I think the ground effects kit really makes the evo look good.

I remember reading somewhere saying 11 models are coming out around Oct.
On 2011 GSR, tall spoiler is default spoiler. So instead of SSS (sound, sight, spoiler) package from 10, it will be called SS (sound, sight).

paint sucks end of story

the sss package is a must for the hid's IMO

the aero kit (ground effects) wasn't a must have for me. I do like the front lip though

the 2011 sound like they will be a good set up

I'd just spend the money you're gonna spend on clear-braing the car on mods. Even with the side-skirts and front bumper + 1/4 hood covered, you're still gonna end up with some rock chips on some stupid obscene place.. lol

See you around though when you get your X! I live in Walnut, but frequent Dbar a lot since I work there.

Cool! You got X MR. I saw different WW Evo X two times in Diamond Bar, I think both were GSR.
You have pretty new car. How's paint on your car looking after driving around Walnut and DB?

I am deciding everyday between GSR or MR.
MR looks nice with BBS rim, nice leather/suede seat, good DD, but I gotta replace that color matched vent.
I don't like stock Enkei wheel and cloth interior on GSR. But I can get car to 350whp with full bolt-ons and tune while I can only get MR to 310whp with similar mods.

SSS was a must for me mainly for the HIDs, but I also like the bigger spoiler over the regular. As for the paint quality, I've only really had experiences owning Lexus and Toyotas, and its definately far from it.

when I first went from VIII -> X, I was thinking I would greatly miss the HIDs I had (05 VIII SSL)

however, I was pleasantly surprised... the standard headlights on this car are downright awesome! I honestly do not miss HIDs one bit, plus with a car that is already heavy, every pound of weight savings counts (ballasts are very heavy!)

also, while I probably wouldn't have paid $2k for the Aero kit option(bought the car used), I will say that at nearly 40k miles I don't have any rock chips on the rear door/quarterpanel. If you don't mind lecturing everyone who gets in/out of your car not to step on the sideskirts, I really think it makes the look of the car a million times better (non-Aero Xs look like Lancers to me, although the 2010 sideskirt change is a step in the right direction, the front lip is still lame... and I actually like my short spoiler more than the tall one as well).

just my $0.02

Paint quality is garbage...paint is already starting to bubble on my drvier side skirt and looks as if it will be chipping off soon...as for the SSS love the HID's, theyre awsome. The aero package seems cheap but looks nice. Good luck with your decision. Oh yeah...the cloth Recaro's are awsome for whoever said they're crap.

ballasts probably weigh three pounds each...maybe even less

I just modded a pair of headlights and I doubt one light weighs more than 7 pounds

The SSS isn't even an option if you ask me.

The aero really depends on what you want the car for. I'm sure it is functional on track too.
