backfire on stock exhaust?

Anyone ever experience backfire with the stock exhaust?
Just got my cobb AP 2 days ago, was able to install stage 1 map on my MR, took it for a cruise last night with a friend who wanted to try the car.

Noticed backfire (large pop sound from the exhaust) when he was shifting with high rpm.
This is my first performance car, and my first turbo charged car.
Its basically stock with cobb stage 1 map. Is this normal?

I did some searching on the forum before I posted, only saw them mentioned on guys' car with aftermarket exhausts.

I bought my car used from the Mitsu Dealership and was told it was bone stock (I took a quick look at the exhaust earlier this week when I was installing my backup camera, looked stock), I was afraid I was scammed by the sales. Well, my car did come with full warranty, so its actually kind of cool if my car came with aftermarket exhaust (although I highly doubt it) and being warrantied for it.

Thanks for the response by the way!
Learning something new about the car everyone on the forum!

You'll get backfires on the stock exhaust but it usually won't blow fireballs like an aftermarket one will...the catalytic converter tends to prevent that.

depending how many miles and if it's under boost, it could be that you need new plugs.

Are you sure it was a backfire as opposed to a quick bounce off the rev limiter?

I am not exactly sure, but does the quick bounce make the large pop from the exhaust? (sounds like a mini explosion sort of)
