fuel relay update: whats the latest?

I have a 2010 EVO MR with the SST trans manufacture date nov 2009. It currently has 7000 miles on it. Completely stock.

I have been having intermittent cold start issues: the car cranks but doesn't fire. It has happened about three times in the last month. the second try it always fires.

Looking at the relays, My car has green relays in the slots a-22x, a-25x, a-28x. It also has part # MR 301978 in the MFI (a-34x) slot.

The TSB-10-13-002 calls for blue relays in a22x, a25x and a28x, with part # mr400709 in the MFI (a34x) position.

Some people have replaced the fuel pump (a27-X) relay with the blue one (mine currently is black). But this is not called for in the TSB unless there is a later TSB that I haven't seen.

I guess what I'm asking is what is the latest info on all this?

My dealer doesnt have a clue...

Thanks,

Doug Davis

Blue is where it's at...and don't forget the fuel injection relay as well (big grey one in upper corner).

Thanks!

Is the grey MFI relay part # MR400709, the one they call for in the TSB?

Anybody have any luck getting the dealer to pay for these updates under warentee?

If it's a TSB and not a recall the dealer will NOT pay for it. That's from my personal experience and others as I've replaced these out of my own pocket.

you gotta say something about trouble restarting after it's been run a while. that or something about cold weather starts. i forget which.

i was meeting up with someone at the dealership and they were having theirs replaced for free, and the service manager is like "you are having these issues right?" and i was like suuuuuuure...and they replaced mine for free.

I kind of want to do this too, but the closest dealer is like 45 minutes away. I dont want to drive down there for nothing.
