Transfer Case Issue

I went to my local shop for an oil change and also told them i've been leaking oil don't know why but I am. So as they lifted my car, my oil pan is ok no problems and to find out that I am leaking oil from my transfer case. So I ended not getting my oil change since I will have to take my car to the dealership, I have to drive 70miles one way but since I get free oil change it equals out. Anyways, I told them I am leaking oil from the transfer case, they did their own check and true to it, it is a major problem and told me that this is a 2-3k job and would need approval from Mitsubishi to warranty the vehicle. I haven't had the car for 6 months. I dont know why this happened. Just sucks because the first thing they asked me is the car modified, luckily all I have done is lowered it and wheels. No engine mods yet. The thing that bothered my is that what if I have done my bolt-ons like intake, UICP, LICP, FMIC, TBE, etc. I bet they would've voided my warranty. That kinda sucks because the dealership where I bought the car even offers aftermarket products. But yet here they are with the crack down of voided warranties because of mods. I dont know what to do, I miss my car and at the same time I am having doubts whether to do those mods now because of stuff like this. The funny part is I haven't even driven my car to a track, or raced it, or took it to a canyon or something. Just regular driving. I just need to vent out, I definitely miss my X and wanting to clean the crap out of it since its been raining here in Cali.

that sucks dude, I hope it gets covered, don't see why it wouldn't. I had mine go out on my VIII, no warranty and did all the work myself. lucky that you didn't have much else done. hope I don't have any problems like that for quite awhile on my X.

they cant void your warranty on your drivetrain for a turbo back exhaust, or intercooler pipes, they can void turbo related issues or engine but not your transfer case.

magnuson act does not allow any company to void warranty for unrelated parts.

you need to be agressive with some of these dealers, escalade your issues up to the top if needed, and let them know that this is nonsense the fact this car is brand new and they are not responding to a fast customer request.

mitsu warranty sucks even their products are not great,,, if it wasnt for the evo i would have never purchased a mitsu car

turboback exhaust, intercooler pipes... catless, without a tune that's about 30 whp atleast... so they can easily say it's related due to changing the power level...

Honestly, be thankful it's JUST your t.case. Pull that sucker out, send it to shep for a cheap rebuild, and put it back in. You'll only be out about 1.2k, have a stronger t.case, and not have to deal with from here on out.

I got my X at Southcoast Mitsubishi, but yea I know this will be covered by warranty because its still stock but just imagine having my planned bolt-ons I dont know what hassle or trouble they will give me. I agree with APAGAN01 if it wasnt for the EVO I wouldn't have purchased a mitsu. That's why I love Hondas no issues whatsoever.

Southcoast Mitsubishi, however the service guy named Steve was very helpful. Great customer service. Im glad I bought my X from this dealership. I cant even imagine Glendale and Anaheim Mitsu, I almost bought mine over there if they matched Sam's price deal.

Honestly, it's all in the dealership. I know dealerships around here that are mod friendly, I know honda dealerships that aren't. It really depends.

But the rule of thumb is anything in front of the MAF and behind the cat is mod friendly. Here they don't care about UICP and LICP either.

i just had my '10 at s.c.mitsu to replace the camshaft oiling solenoids.

all fully covered by warranty. yes , steve is a good guy as service manager.

my car has....progress springs , spacers , wing removed , all badging removed ,

aem intake , full turbo-back exhaust , u.i.c.p. , cobb a.p.

no one even mentioned possible "voiding the warranty" !
