Didn't the new Mustang get put up against the new M3? I want to say the Mustang was chosen, which is impressive.

I would rock a vette if it wasn't a vette. Even the base vette is stupid fast. It's a class up from the evo/stang/m3.

Mustangs are a dime a dozen. Evos atleast here in Orlando I would see One or two on My way to work if I'm lucky. Mustangs on the other hand are like other cars their everywhere. Plus Evos has 4 doors that's a real plus. Imagine being with friends and your driving and its raining we all get in at the same time. haha

One thing that you guys aren't really talking about (because no one cares unless they own one) is that "you see them everywhere" translates into "cheap parts" and "they're rare" is the opposite. A Mustang is generally going to be easier to drive around town, thanks to its crazy torque curve (can probably launch in idle and not kill it) and you won't have to pay and arm and a leg for regular maintenance items. The same is true for the Vette, on some level.

The M3 is an amazing car, and for the Mustang to keep up with it should say something for its track credentials.

I still find it kind of hard to believe people are actually cross shopping Mustangs and Evos. They feel like two completely different cars.

For me the Evo is just more fun to drive, plain and simple. Yes the Mustang might be more powerful, but the driver feedback, steering feel, and overall responsiveness is much different. I might be going faster every day, but I wouldn't be having as much fun.

Besides that, the Evo carries with it a lot of emotional response. It was a rally champion of WRC, the Evo X even won the Group N class for 2010. For many the Evo is a dream car, and I'm proud to have the car in my garage considering the history and proven capabilities of the car on the world stage.

To me, the only reason to buy the Mustang is because of a magazine spec sheet, and if I'm shelling out over 20K for a car, that isn't enough.

Hate to admit, 5.0 > evo.

The new 5.0 is an AMAZING car.

275 slicks + suspension mods (springs and struts) + tune = fun.

That's a locals car, intake, exhaust + tune = 431rwhp and 413wtq.

It really comes down to personal preference, but for me I would never buy a new 5.0. I see one every place I go, and they have no appeal to me. Also I honestly think they look like a tinny Piece of s&^%. I saw a brand new one at a best buy in ann arbor, MI and the paint had orange peal like crazy and just looked cheap as hell compared to the Camaro ss next to it. Just what i think, and I used to be a mustang guy back in the day.

I had a similar debate in my experience only with the 2010 Camaro. I absolutely feel in love with the looks of the car before it even came out. I was watching the forums almost daily for news and reviews on the performance and could not wait to drive one. I remember when I saw one the road for the first time and how obessed I was! Shortly after it arrived I test drove the v6 and the v8. I was impressed and still very excited to get one.

In the mean time one of my buddies took me for a ride in his X. The way we rocketed around an on ramp had me in dis-belief(i knew he wasnt that good of a driver). I came away totally shocked and second guessing myself on what performance means and what is important. I looked the car up online and sure enough he wasnt that good, the car was! I had no idea what the EVO could do before that. So I spent about a year researching everything about evos sti's and even the Camaro/Mustang. As the year went by i found myself much less obsessed about the Camaro. Mainly becuase there were so MANY of them. Also, as I learned about everything the EVO could do(awd, snow, handling, sst ect..) I started to realize what I really wanted. Something that does it all!

I have ripped mustangs my whole life for how many I see on the roads everyday(I live in nothern Ohio, Detroit might have something to do with that). Either way, I have always believed if everyone has it, its not special. There are positives to many of one car being out there(cost, parts ect), but I want something unique and does it all.

My list for why I picked over a Camaro/Mustang. They really are two different cars, but for anyone stuck on comparing these two...

1. Evo is probably the best overall handling stock car under 50k
2. It will out perform almost anything in the wet.
3. It has better seats and driver feel.
4. Dont even think about taking the Camaro/Stang out in the snow
5. Evo has 4 doors and room for your buddies/family
6. Straight line acceleration is still decent
7. Can be modded easily
8. Wont see another one everytime you go out
9. The EVO does it all

Sure the Stang might be faster straight line and handle decent. But if you need something that can do it all, then the EVO might be the right car for you.

Not saying the Camaro/New Stang aren't great cars. Its about what you want out of the car and how it feels when you drive it.

Put a same mods and whp on the evo and see you still will think a same way
Never compare tune cars to stock. Only stock to stock.

My brother was going between the stang and a SS and went with the SS. When it snowed he couldn't even drive it. When it rains he slides everywhere. Every time he goes down the highway, soccer mom's have the same car. When he drives my evo, he looks at his SS in disappointment.
