Evo MR/SE advice
Evo MR/SE advice
Hey all, I am looking to purchase an Evo MR or SE in a few weeks. The main purpose will be a DD. I don't really have plans for track right now, I might in the future. So my question is, what should I do to the car? Just get a tune for a bit better gas mileage and exhaust perhaps?
It all depends on your budget. If you want more power, my opinion is get your self a test pipe, a cat back, upper intercooler piping, a turbo inlet, a drop in filter, and a tune and you will be really happy with the car. There are 100 different routes to take when it comes to modding, but it all depends on your budget and your end goals.
also depending on where your located they are running some really awesome deals on the SE's right now, out the door around $31-32k

well the se is lighter than a mr. tuning wise you can build them as much as gsr but you have to build the tranny as well fortunately more stuff comes out for the sst all the time. i'd build the tranny after you do basic mods and tune then you can upgrade more. thats what route i'm taking with my se
I'm just planning to get my SE back to the power level my IX MR was at. upper IC pipe, O2 housing, downpipe, high flow cat, catback, turbo inlet pipe, tune. I hear that should safely get me back to around 370whp (dynojet) or so.
you'll def need to get clutch packs then to be safe. i suggest the 400hp pack, and also the tranny cooler & deep dish pan. there are still some guys out there with the stock clutch packs that are well over 400 without slippage. some feel slippage at 325 though. better to be safe than sorry though

get an gsr manual in my opinion you'll send less money with the trammy ..... of course that the stock trammy of a mr will hold more power compared to the gsr stock one but with a good clutch the gsr will hold pretty well and dont have to spent that much money....
but its your choice... either one is good...
