OP, calm down. Hopefully this info will help:

I have put 70k miles on two evos and I think I can count the number of times the brakes have squeaked on two hands. Basically you have to make sure the back of the pads are lubricated when they go in, and make sure you clean *everything* very well with good quality 3M brake cleaner. I have run almost exclusively Ferodo DS2500 pads but I've installed several other brands with great success.

One friend, Kracka, had some bad squeaking problems on his IX. We tried lots of things: different shims, differenet lubricants (usually use copper anti-seize), and I think we even turned the rotors...IIRC we ended up doing a fresh set of pads with a fresh set of rotors and ALL of the above and it was good to go.

Yep I fear people like the OP will ruin the Evo. It's a performance car expect performance noises and ride. Thats why we buy it!!

My brakes squeal every once in a while but it's not that often or bad enough for me to "take my ball and go home" so to speak. I would like to get rid of the noise but it's not bad enough that I would get rid of my evo for a Honda *shudder*

Y'all ran the OP off. He edited his post and left. But yes, as said many times by others in this thread, they do that. My car squeals like mad... Love it, makes me know I am rolling in an Evo. If anyone says something about it, I tell them it's a racecar that will outbrake their car anytime.

Way to butcher etiquette. Go buy a cr-z, enjoy the 'sporty'handling, decent gas mileage, cheap insurance, and quiet breaks. Everything you wished the evo was and more!

The brakes squeaked on those too. You made it sound like you're the only one with this issue; I was reassuring you that you're not. No need for your little smart comments.

And guess what? It's an Evo not a fking prius!!!!!!Go try some duralast c-max's or w/e they're called if you don't want any squeaking or better yet just sell your car!!!!!The awesome squeal/screech track pads make=bad***, because that's how I know my brakes are doing there job

Yeah, I noticed since about 3800-4000 miles mine have been kinda making a grinding noise when stopping below 5mph and sometimes when I put it out of park into drive and start going it will grind the first 2 seconds like the brakes didn't disenage fully. I'm assuming this is normal? Either way I have my first 5000 mile maintainence this Friday so they can check it out for me at the dealer lol.

This is an easy fix, guys. You could rub some lithium grease all over the pads and rotor and I promise, they won't squeal. You won't be able to stop either and will likely crash and hurt yourself but, by goodness you can stop fussing about your noisy brakes. Just an idea...

Me, I think a little braking power is a good thing and am willing to suffer the indignity of a noisy pad.

Settle down, dude. Performance car brakes are supposed to squeal, but the clear coat is not supposed to peel off.

You're clearly heated, and this thread has clearly served it's purpose.
