Radar detector placement

Hey guys,

So I got a question for those that use radar detectors. On my old car, I had it hardwired in the upper left corner of the windshield so it was easy to reach the mute button (had a passport 8500). So having said that, I thought about putting my new 9500ix in the same location (hardwired of course), but it seems that the evo windshield is steeper than on my mustang. It sorta juts out and its weird. Plus, wanting to hardwire it on that side, I'm worried about hiding the wires beneath the side airbag column in case the airbags need to deploy.
So I'm asking you guys where do you have yours? I'm trying to avoid putting it in the middle of the windshield cause it blocks my view. Would the airbags get hung up if the wires were hidden on top of the bag/beneath the plastic cover? Thanks!

the airbags deploy at 200mph....nothing will stop them from coming out...

with that said I would not recommend putting marbles in there.

I recommend the STi-R and place it in the grille.

paranoid and without tickets, what a bummer!

I keep my v1 to the right of my mirror and have the wire running through the pillar airbag

mine is up top to the left of the mirror. hiding behind a 5% tint strip. cant be seen from the outside which is a plus. the sensor is right below the tint strip so im sure it has no effect on distance.

as long as it can 'see' just below the tint you will be OK.

V1 + BlendMount is working well for me, and it seems they have one for your 9500 too.

Around here cops seem to always have their radar blaring full strength. Other cops further away from here have a pulse system that goes quiet for 5 to 10 seconds and then full strength for a short time. At first I thought it was the cop manually doing it but it happened on a schedule for a good 20 minutes that this cop was following nearby.

So basically a radar detector around here, is a cop detector. Knowing that I have a warning whenever they are near even if I haven't spotted them yet. It provides more of a safeguard against other pointless tickets too. So I can roll my tinted windows down, and lower revs since I have a loud TBE.

I do about 7-9 over and after simply lifting the throttle upon spotting a cop, I'm quickly within 5mph of the limit which most every cop allows here. Over about 8 or 9 miles per hour they start giving tickets.

I mount mine right smack in the center of the dash in plain view. Disable X band, and it's ready to go. What helped more than the radar detector was simply pulling the wing. I'm wingless and apex silver. No one really looks much now that the wing is gone and most attention has gone away. The right people know what it is...

That's so sick. You said you have it on your Valentine V1 because I don't see them available for it..

I mount mine in the center with both good front and rear view. Doesn't really block my site.
