The Evo X really is a cop magnet.
Tried one of those... Didnt last too long as they hang a bit lower retracted...and got ripped off and destroyed by a bump in a parking lot..
Just get one of the show-n-go plates. You can put the plate under the car when you want to do race events or whatever and slide it up when on the streets. It basically saves you from having to put ugly holes in the front of your bumper.

Been pulled over twice in North Jersey for the same thing. I explained both times that I just bought the car and have yet to mount it because of the holes and they let me go, thankfully. But I've been thinking about getting a vinyl plate and seeing what happens. They do it in the UK and I really don't think a cop would even notice. Has anyone else done it?
Mmm, I like the way the license plate sits on the car. Lets people know "Hey, he has to have that on the side or else it blocks air flow to his intercooler." hahah, at least I think thats why they put it to the side, right?
But in the end we are all driving "sports cars" that are targeted, epsecially for not having American cars, but also because people make tuners out to be the worst people in the world. And cops profit off of it.
Good Luck Everyone! haha
More than ten years ago in the state of Massachusetts, we had these ugly and plain plates with green letters/numbers. They're only required to be mounted on the rear of the car because they're only a single plate from the DMV. I still have that plate and will probably keep it forever. I went through several cars with it and always asked the dealers to remove the front plate frames.
I got pulled over by the State Police when I first got my X for having no front plate eventhough I had a front plate. Optical illusion on the X or the cop wanted to check out the car.
It's funny because Vettes and other sports cars don't have front plates. Harleys are louder than X's with full exhaust, but yet who is getting pulled over for dumb S*!*?
I've gotten warnings for no front plate and loud exhaust so i'm lucky there.

Thanks for all the replies and feedback about your experiences with the no front plate issue. It’s interesting to hear what everyone has to say.
The reason I never put one on my 4x4 truck is the same reason, there was nowhere to put it without drilling holes. I guess driving a 4x4 without a front plate, no one cares. But driving an Evo without the plate cops give tickets.
I actually drove my truck for six months without a back license plate either. Seriously, I drove a truck in CA for six months with NO license plate, front or back. No one cared. After six months, I put the back plate on, then drove for 10 years without the front plate and never had any issues.
It’s interesting to hear that parking meter police issue tickets for parked Evo’s without a front plate. In my truck, I’ve had many parking tickets and no one ever said anything about not having a front plate on my truck

Every manufacturer that sells vehicles in the USA is required to have a specific design location and proper mounting brackets for a front & rear plate for the vehicle being sold. On the X the mounting bracket should have been included with the owners manual and supporting documents from the dealership. I live in FL where the plate it not required on the front...the dealer still ensured that the mounting bracket was provided.
As a former police officer. The reason plates are hung on the front of the vehicle is for ease of identification coming or going. The front plate has nothing to do with ease of lasing a vehicle. Look up principles of light refraction before commenting that cops use a liscene plate as an aiming point for lasers.
Off my soap box now.
Here is the best part about this one. If a cop is driving towards you the plate is closer to their line of site since it is on the left hand side.
