Unhappy Another top 10 & explains high insurance

According to the IIHS the Lancer Evolution (No model year specified) is the #1 car with the highest rates for collision claims. The Lancer was the 3rd worst and the Lancer Ralliart was #6. Do we evo drivers need to slow down a bit or perhaps quit crashing so much?

I'm just curious where was the wrx and sti rated in this top 10 cause weren't they the most expensive at one point?

Valid point. I lost count of the number of wrecked WRX/STi threads I saw on NASIOC. I'd venture a guess and say that Mitsu and Suby owners are equally prone to accidents, considering there are probably alot of "mommy and daddy bought me an STi/MR for my 17th birthday! What mods should I do first?" among both brands. Sad, but reality.

I guess its because the Evo appeals to a certain demographic and the way they drive. Who buys and Evo to go slow?

Only based on what we can afford.... Your last sentence doesn't apply even to most Corvette owners...

My NJM insurance just went up because the rating symbol on Evos changed. It was a T before and now it's an X...yeah that's right I said X, big whoop wanna fight about it? Anyway, I obviously called NJM to get the scoop and the woman said the only rating worse than what the Evo is is a Y which is reserved for super cars ($100k+). Gotta love it.

Maybe we should all drive our cars real easy and slow for a year to drop it back down.

The older I get I find myself less and less impulsive. I ride bikes too, and it takes maturity to still ride sport bikes for the last 35 years. The EVO's like a four wheel bike, hella fun to drive but you have to choose the time and place to let her loose!! I drive like a old man most of the time so as not to be pulled over and hassled all the time, same goes with my bikes. Works for me!! No tickets!!!!!!!!!!! Or accidents!!!!!!!!!!!

My insurance guy told me it would cost over $200 more per 6 months to insure an Evo X MR over my Elise!

I don't get this high insurance stuff. Maybe I just have a great company? I pay $80 a month for full coverage on a 2011 GSR. I JUST added it a few weeks ago. Maybe it's because I insure other things and have a spotless record. Or maybe it's the area I live in?
