I see the prob not the snow causing to fail it's the "salt" on the roads.hope it works out for u.

I think Lancer Shop has a series of do-it-yourself S-AWC and AYC pump shields to protect from salt. Mind you its just an enclosure and salt can still get in there, but I have heard many times that salt will damage these parts over time. If you live in Snowy area's try not to drive it during the snow or when salt hasnt washed off the roads.

It sucks, they give the EVO a SNOW setting, but then you can't use it in the snow...except maybe on a ski slope.

I hear everyone say the pump goes bad in the cold.
My ayc light only comes on when it gets warm out 60 degree and plus.
It never pops up when it's cold.
Like last week we got a warm day and it popped up all day long.
Now that it's cold again nothing!

when my pump went .....

i bought one online for ~$1100 shipped. Google the part# and shop around, the prices vary a lot.

sprayed it with galvanized zinc rust preventative coating before taking it to dealer for install/bleed. 4 hours labor - considered installing myself, but i figured it wasn't worth the grief and i had to take it there anyway to get it bled.

had the dealer keep the old pump for me, thinking i could sell it to someone looking to rebuild it, but the thing looked like a horror show. black, completely corroded, with pieces just falling off it. definitely corrosion from road salt killed it.

i bought a cheap flexible (thin and flimsy) rubber floor mat for $4.99, and made my own pump cover by trimming it up and using some of the existing fasteners in the pump area and some zip-ties to secure it.

hope that helps someone ....
