5 year/60,000 Powertrain warranty

All -

I've read through some threads in the past that state the powertrain 5 year/60,000 year warranty does transfer to subsequent users; I cannot find the specific threads on this for the life of me. However, I do see on Mitsubishi's site - http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMNA/j...te/warranty.do, that the power train warranty does not transfer to subsequent owners on the Lancer Evolution. I've also called a dealership and they confirmed it's not transferrable either.

Is this true or no? I'm potentially buying a pre-owned 2008 Evo X from a private seller. Kind of stinks if a non-original owner cannot get any sort of warranty on the powertrain, although I can see Mitsubish's reasoning on this.

After looking at their warranty PDF, it seems the transferable 3-year warranty overlaps and covers powertrain issues.. so you might have that, if it hasn't expired already. You just won't have the 4th and 5th year from the regular powertrain warranty.

It's 100% transferrable, and you get the same coverage length as the original owner. it even says so on that link you just posted. Scroll down to 2008 or Just click on the:

"(Excludes Lancer Ralliart, Lancer Sportback Ralliart and Lancer Evolution, click here for details)"

The key words are "To all owners..."

You can also call MMNA to make sure if you like.

Do you see the phrase to all owners in regards to the powertrain warranty in the pdf for the 2008 Evolution?

Warranty Information for 2008 Lancer Evolution

At Mitsubishi, we are so confident in the quality, reliability and durability of the Lancer Evolution that we are backing it with the following warranties. This list is headed by a 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty; a 3-year/36,000-mile, Bumper-to-Bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty; a 7-year/100,000-mile Anti-Corrosion/Perforation Limited Warranty and 5-year/Unlimited-miles Roadside Assistance. So now, when you drive off in your new Mitsubishi, you'll leave with even more peace of mind, knowing you can enjoy it to the fullest for many years to come.

It's there, if you actually clicked on "here"

This coverage applies to all owners of this Vehicle during the stated time and mileage
limitations. This Limited Warranty applies only to MITSUBISHI vehicles registered
and normally operated in United States territories and possessions.
Same for the 2008 as it is for the 2010 and 2011 Evos.

Thanks guys, I wanted to make sure that this was what you were referring to. I spoke to MMNA and they did confirm this as well.

The Mitsubishi documents also state that it would strongly be to your benefit if you can hunt down any service records that the previous owner(s) had done for the car, as their negligence (if applicable) may cancel out your warranty.

Did you really just disagree with me and then post the exact same link I told you to click on?
