Newb tuning questions

In life we are faced with decisions. Due to a recent divorce and continued deployment, my choice is the mod the f**k out of my GSR.

sounds fair to me

anyways, here is what I have so far.

Turbo kit
http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/ams-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-x-cz4a-turbo-kit.html
AMS 900X
Dump to Atmosphere
Black
Black Speed Density
Optional cold air piping
Possible valve cover
$5909.08

Exhaust
https://secure.buschurracing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=193_197_227&products_id=117 3&osCsid=aea4c9734739bf4e6208ff67ad71516e
$850

Test Pipe
http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/AMS-Mitsubishi-Lancer-Evolution-Evo-10-3-quot-Stainless-Steel-Test-pipe.html
$249.95

Short Shifter
http://www.twmperformance.com/shortshifters/mitsubishishortshifters/2008-mitsubishi-evo-x-shortshifters.htm
$184.95

Feel free to openly tell me why these are bad ideas, or maybe suggest alternates I hadn't thought of.

the questions that come in though. These items plus a tune are going to put me into a category of car I've never been in before. I'm looking for a godo spot to get an exedy stage 2 clutch. and I'm thinking that going up to ceramic breaks will help solve the stopping issue.

However, at what point do I need to look into a new fuel system, and engine internals? I'd love to sleeve the cylinders, do new headstuds, and headgasket, but is that overkill? a generic walbro 255 and 1000cc injectors are viable. but at what point are they necessary?

I didn't put it in the list but I am going KW Variant 3's with the HLS.

I know I could probably find all of this on here if I searched hard enough. Deployed in Iraq and I'm hoping the community can help me out here. that being said.. thanks!

well with that turbo kit, ur going to kill the stock block quickly. i suggest getting your block built along with bigger injectors and fuel pump. . also with the short shifter, make sure to get the bushings as well. An exedy stage 2 clutch is not going to be able to handle the torque from that setup, you should be looking at at least a exedy twin for a clutch. Consider getting a rear sway bar as well to complement the kws. With that said, you are looking at a killer setup.

heres a couple dyno graphs that would be comparable

When in doubt, mod your car. Like Zabes said, you're going to need to build everything with that big turbo.

With that much power you will want to get a bigger block and clutches for sure before you put in that turbo in. Also grab an IC as well and a better trans cooler.

Fairly constant I'm hearing is bigger clutch, sway bar in the rear, and a bigger block. Now The motor work I'm not intimidated by, but I don't know where to start. I know AMS has a bigger motor that I can drop in but I'd quite like to keep what's in there in if I can. Money isn't infinite Now these suggestions on the motor. if I should use the smaller turbo setup. the 750 instead of the 900. think that would change anything?

The stock block shouldnt be pushed past 400 wtrq so regardless I think it would be best to build the block or by a bigger one. Sounds like you have quite a bit of money to spend. You should just give AMS a call and get there 2 cents on it. They will steer you in the best direction for where you want to be

Another thing you should consider is how much power do u want to make before you start buying anything cause depending on how high you want your numbers to be will determine what you will need to do.

This is actually a point I've been contemplating since I started putting this together. I've decided that I'm going to shoot for a much easier goal. I'm just going to shoot for 400whp. a fairly easy goal tbh. to put the car through those paces would make it significantly less enjoyable to drive I think.

The list has been rewritten

Enjuku in Orlando has these parts.
Agency Power SRI and Cat Delete
Synapse BOV with Anti-Stall.
Cusco Type-OS Rear Strut bar(I like this tucked up design over a regular tube style Sway bar.
for what I need the BC Coilovers will do me. just want the lowered ride, with tunable ride qualities.

Buschur Racing
Downpipe and CBE w/ quiet muffler.

As much as I was prepared to build a massive powerhouse, the destruction of gas mileage and short lifespan of the motor just aren't worth it in the end. Minor changes to ramp up the car close to 400 for now. do some visual and maybe push it to 450 later. hell it will still pull past anyone I know in Melbourne lol.

Sounds like a more realistic plan. You should check out some of ETS's products. There quality and costumer services is AWESOME. Talk to Michael thats who answered all my questions and helped me out with my car.

Further decisions. I am going to go with KW Variant 3's. I forget what they call it but it's like progressive spring rates for coilovers. keeps the right stock or better unless I get on it. maintains a comfortable stock feel, while allowing stiffness for getting into the twistiness.

Ordered my TWM and my Shiftknob. TKromer sold me on a shifter and I ordered it just now.

it's pretty sweet. And I got great and prompt customer service from them when I e-mailed with questions.
