The stock filter is fine unless you are heavily modded. Stay away from K&N, their filtering capabilities are terrible.

Cosworth if you are on a budget, Works if you are not.

Not to thread jack, but after a drop in, will my car need a tune? I would like to avoid a 400$ tune over a 50$ filter

No tune necessary. A drop in won't lean you out as much as an open filter element with a larger maf housing. You'll need a tune for the latter.

BTW, I've had an HKS drop in for ~7000 miles and still going strong. No MAF issues. Running Cobb 93+HKS and lovIng it!

I have always had good luck with K&N products. They always get great reviews too.

I had a WORKS drop in filter before I got my AMS intake.. The butt dyno said it did yield a gain in overall power and I'm pretty sure there's a dyno test chart out there that can prove it. It also made the turbo "audible," but not as loud as an aftermarket intake would. I got it for US$50 brand new in box from a private seller, but I think it's US$100 from worksevo.com. I ran it with the accessport 'HKS panel filter stage 1' map and it worked great. IMO it's the best mod under $175 out there.

I dont know if it's available in Australia though..
