2011 Evo X knocking sound during acceleration

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem when accelerating at low speeds/rpm (usually between 2000 and 3500 RPM) and i hear what sounds like something on the bottom front side of the car knocking. I've used nothing but 91 octane, and recently got an oil change which is when i noticed it. I'm going to take it to the dealer later this week for diagnosis but just seeing if the pros had any advice.

The only aftermarket work i have on it is an K&N Typhoon cold air intake and a borla catback exhaust. I'm thinking it might be those 2 things not liking the stock tune but not sure.

Thanks guys.

might be the cold air intake hitting on something
but soon enough it will be the motor falling apart since you didn't get a tune! you MUST tune your car!

Awesome thanks for the input guys.

Going to get a tune somewhere in the near future. What do you guys suggest for tuning? Taking it to reputable shop or buying a self tuner such as the COBB Access Port?

+1. It's not like the car is going to blow up. People run MANY more mods before tuning..

OP- did you check the oil level? Have you looked at the records to make sure that they used synthetic oil?

Maybe the knocking is caused by some poor pedestrian you ran over and he wants a ride in your EVO? He's like "that car is sick, let me in 'knock knock knock'!

Do not drive your car aggressively. And go to the dealer. Check to see if the oil level is correct. Also it might be your intercooler it knocking on something. If everything is the same. Then get a tune.

Thanks a lot for your input guys i really appreciate it. I noticed my stock BoV was knocking against my UICP. I moved the BoV away from the pipe slightly and took it for about a 10 mile drive. No knocking...oh the little things I have to learn about modding cars. If you couldn't tell this is my first.

Again thanks a lot for the help guys and I still plan to get it tuned. Got the test pipe on this afternoon.
