Why did you buy your EVO
Tired of crashing on my track bike (pic's to prove). Bought Evo for my track car don't have to worry anymore broken bones or scratches and missing work. I just love how it comes out of corners, reminds me of my R1 oh man I miss my bike.
Always been a huge fan of Evo's since I was younger. Tired of driving an SUV and thought it was time to purchase an Evo so I did. I have kids so it being a 4 door AWD beast also played a part
Ibuy evos because I love rally, and these are most capable rally cars out from the factory, period.
I was tempted with a new STI (hatch) but still I had just a hair more faith in the Ev. The time proved the Evo is just better again.
No other reason really. I mean for a main car to have an Evo is not a smartes decision, a way I see it.

I got mine really not knowing what it was. I liked the style of the car. I went to Subaru to buy a 06 STI because I had a legacy wagon that I put 330000 miles on. Subaru would not deal at all, I just had bought a 06 WRX limited there for my wife. I left and went to mitsu wanting a awd sedan a few hours later a 06 SE was in my driveway. It is the best thing Subaru did for me.
I got my VII just recently, my E39 540i is my daily but I got the car after being given a ride in it. A friend has a modified VII and I decided to see what the fuss was about... I.WAS.BLOWN.AWAY!! I always assumed evos and stis are like honda ricers, very ignorant as I now know because as a thriller, as a true fun and excitement car this thing is just amazing. I will admit that the comfort is not like my beamer and maybe in daily use (which I don't use it) the 540i is more appropriate (for me at least) but when you finish work on a Friday and just wanna go out and let your stress disappear it's awesome. Plus the AWD and the handling is just epic, the thing is on rails, as a performance car this chassis is truely extraordinary. I've taken turns in this thing at speeds my beamer would be wrapped around a tree. I just wish people had more respect for it, I didn't before I got one but boy do I regret ever doubting this machine. I must also say the Subaru STis are good too but the evo is better IMO.
Got mine 'cos I moved out of Manhattan to NJ and needed a car. The car I wanted, Ford Focus ASBO, isn't sold here so then I looked at the Mini Cooper JCW. Then I realized that for the cost of a fully specced JVW I could get a GSR. Then I drove the GSR and then promptly bought an MR.
Cuz I've wanted one ever since I read the numerous reviews on the VIII years ago... it was like the more I read about it the crazier this car seemed to be... and I was patiently waiting for the right opportunity saying to myself "I'll have you one day just watch..." lol
Had a 2005 BMW M3 and loved it. With one kid and another on the way I wanted to switch to something with 4 doors, but still wanted something fun. Wasn't able to order a new M3 sedan as they cut off production before I could get an order in. Thought about the new MB C63 and the Audi S4. Was about to order the S4 when I test drove an Evo MR Touring. Feel in love with the Evo and took delivery of my fresh of the truck 2011 Evo MR (touring/premium/nav) a few weeks later. It retains the "fun" I was looking for, but is a bit more practical than my old M3. It is an amazing car for the money.
I was crazy about both the Evo and STi when they originally came out. At the time, I had just bought a new G35 that my wife loved, so there was no chance of trading it in on an Evo. So, I enviously watched Evos and STi's drive by. That G35 became my son's car. He traded it in on a new Evo X GSR. Then, 3 weeks later, one of my very closest friends who lives in North Carolina contacted me about selling my built 2007 Honda Civic Si. His was totalled out and he wanted another Si. He knew my car had been babied and was low mileage. He offered me a price I could not refuse. So, I sold the Si and with that money and some other money I had, I bought myself a 2011 Evo X GSR.
I have to say that the car is a quantum leap above my Si in every aspect of performance. I could have bought a 5.0 Mustang, Camaro SS or 370Z or STi, all commendable cars, but in the end, only an Evo would satisfy my performance and modifying tastes. What is fun is that my son is buying parts and testing them out, so I can see how they work before I do the same modifications. I am just sorry that I did not do this sooner. An Evo IX would have been so much better than the Honda Civic Si that I bought brand new in 2007.
