Mods that don't void Warranty

I'm just curious about this. Are there any HP adding mods out there that don't void a warranty.

yeah sure....and the warranty part you dont have to worry about if your willing to take them off before every service. But your best bet is to get a panel filter. that probably the only thing that wont void your warranty. Then depending on dealer everything else void warranty.

Cat-back exhaust is also documented as warranty supported within the 2" thick owners guide.

A panel filter won't void you warranty. And that's about it.

Some dealerships don't care about some mods like a catback, intercooler pipes, maybe an intake pipe or intake. You could get a Cobb AP and re-flash it and then if anything happens unmarry the AP.

Obviously things like an intercooler, downpipe, testpipe/high-flow cat, turbo, a tune will void your warranty. If anything makes you nervous than call your dealers shop manager and ask him what they would allow.

Yeah, it does depend on the dealership. Fortunately the past couple of dealerships I've been to didn't mind me having an exhaust and intake. I have a few cosmetic mods but also upgraded AMS shifter bushings, console bushings and drive train bushings which were no problem either...the tech even installed some of the bushings I couldn't get to (atm) for free..heck they even put my ACT clutch in for me (this is long story related though)...I usually let them know what I'm doing (this was when the car was under warranty (factory)....

My dealership said they wouldn't allow it. They would warranty anything other than the engine if I bought an exhaust.

I bought a catback anyway and 30k miles later its fine. Nobody ever went there to get any services done at our dealership because they were a-holes and now they are closed. They just opened another dealership now though. I know alot of the guys that work there so hopefully they are cooler.

The manual has it in the beginning of the guide, and my dealer's service writer also conveyed the CBE as 'ok'. Me, I did a full TBE upgrade at 16,000 miles, I figured I was clear on any material or product defects at that point. I'm at 67,000 miles, no problems other than I blew up my UR downpipe at the track a few weeks ago, had to buy something to replace it that wasn't known to be susceptible to weld failures. Oh, I also need to measure and buy new valve tappets. I hear it's not hard, but tedious as all hell.

i spoke to a mitsu master tech & rep and they said as long as anything you have on there ISNT the cause of failure, then youre fine. ie- you can do anything you want, as long as when if something goes wrong, that was why... bc then youre s.o.l.

Where can I find that mitsu hard pipe? Never heard of it. The closest dealership to me said if I touch anything they will void my warranty. Then another told me just catback is okay. I guess you could just go back to stock if needed.
I heard using the AP and unmarrying the AP the dealer can still tell the ECU was flashed. My question is: can they tell what date or time it was flashed? If you bought the car used you could say it happened before you bought the car and never knew about it.

edit: ALSO:

that mitsu guy and tech also sadi that if you do ANYTHING to your ecu, then they will know. so much as even think about touching it, and all that info will get stored. apparently is some super hi-tech thing that stores logs of anything and everything that happens to the car and the ECU its self... and it also does a lot more

Research the Magnusson-Moss Act.

This has been covered on this forum at least 100 times, and on the internet in excess of 1 million times.

You can order that hard pipe from the dealership which is going to cost you an arm and a leg or you can check some of the aftermarket sites like Vividracing or something like that and probably get it for cheaper. I have AMS upper intercooler piping and its pretty hard to hide that I would just ask the service department, hopefully you have some cool car guys working there......

that's like asking a hooker if she every gave a *******...

Mods = voided warranty, period.

How to avoid it? Have mod friendly dealers to work on your car and be friends with them. I get my oil changes from my mitsu dealer and I am back there doing it myself (sometimes but always at the back anyhow). They know all the mods I added, had multiple warranty work done as well with the mods, just not for the mods
