I traded my 08 with 38k on it for a new 11 back in october. I only did it because i wanted to sunroof and leather and because I wanted 0 miles again.

If the features are worth it to you and you can afford it why not.

He said his 08, not Evo 8. Im relatively new here and it seems like a lot of the older Evo owners do their fair share of bashing of the X

I'm late to this party. While I agree, color is superficial, there are changes between '08 and '11 that will help longevity.

Upgraded diff pins, upgraded transmission synchros (2nd gear is a pain for you sometimes isn't it?), new timing chain (though you can get the new timing chain easily), upgraded brake rotors ('08 had rotors that could tear from the hats).

Then there are other nice to have upgrades: Texture wrapped steering wheel (it sounds minor but this was huge for me), upgraded stock exhaust (much more throatier and makes decent power with other bolt-ons), upgraded hud display (can always see temp), black valve cover (even though it's plastic, still looks better imo and is lighter).

If you are 100% happy with your car, don't get rid of it and take a hit. If you are planning on keeping a car for a while, I'd suggest looking at the '12 or even '11. The differences between the '11 and '12 are the most minor between any other years.

great info. yes its true that 2nd gear is a pain at times, but once the tranny is warmed up its like butter. rotors i could do without since im changing them out. i didnt know of the steering wheel. do you have a pic old vs new? the stock exhaust is going to be off soon. the hud display i really really want, hopefully i can upgrade to it.

I would just put the full Varis body kit if the accident bothers you that much. I would keep the 08 and wait for thr Evo 11 to come out. Not worth it in my opinion

If i were you, I would've sold it, and taken the loss.. just make sure the 2012 WW is the ultimate choice, if not you're just wasting money. Do it! "You only live once."

I'll see if I can dig one up.

I wouldn't count on getting a color hud display. There is a thread on here about some people trying. Even if you can get one for cheap (under $700), you still have to have it synced to your car by a dealership which also costs $$$.

I had an 08, traded it in for the shelby and the just recently picked up a new 11 WW. Glad I did what I did. A lot of the bugs the 08 had that bothered me have been fixed. Voted to buy a new one, but if your a little strapped hold on to the 08. Either way you can't lose, you have an Evo.

If $$$ isn't an issue, which it doesn't sound like the case, because you mention that you'll finally start to mod it soon. So... I say keep the 08! Do the vinyl wrap. That will protect the paint for when you do sell the car + it gives the buyer an option on color. It satisfies your itch to go white + you can go flat or matte. THE REAL KICKER.... when you start your mods the smile on your face will be much bigger, and day after day after day, than when driving off the lot in the 2012 which would soon fade.
KEEP THE 08 AND MOD THE HELL OUT IF IT!

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of differences between 08, 10 and 11? We're either going to get a cheaper 08 or spend more and get a newer low miles 10 or 11.
