Just add the features from the '12 to your '08. I am pretty sure all the factory harnesses for what you want are already on the car, just plug and play for most of it. For the gauges, you could find a salvage unit (good luck) and plug it up. You might also need a '10+ ecu for the gauges to properly work too. The mirrors are an easy addon (yes including the heating elements).

Edit: I also want to add the extra cool gadgets and features mean nothing on an Evo.. if you want that stuff, get another car - cause in reality, this is a track car detuned for the streets.. I love my heated seats and use them daily during the winter... but the rest I could care much less about.. Driving the car and how fun it is is worth a lot more than having a colorized meter on the dash.

I also have a '08 BMW 335i that is completely fully loaded. My Evo is stock.. the 335i is stock.. The BMW is faster stock for stock and wayyyy nicer and has all the bells and whistles. The point i'm trying to make is that there are cars (Lexus, Infiniti, BMW) that can be bought for the same price or less (used) with a lot more comfort features and technology. I guess i'm content because I drive both almost daily.

Good comparison, I have a 335i coupe also, about to get the wife an Evo X. At the price point I think the Evo should have some basic stuff like an ipod hookup and maybe bluetooth but you're right it's no luxury car.

While I'm not 100% sure on the 2010 model, the 2011 harness is quite different in some places. Also I wouldn't recommend changing ecus between years of cars.

I agree. It sounds like you already made up your mind and are looking to justify that it's the right decision
