Yea, your car is fine. When I first autocrossed my car, I was hitting the rev limiter in a couple of stretches. When I had the car idling, it got a little rough. I started to freak out, couldn't believe I hurt my car already. Then I remembered about that darn vacuum line, it had popped off. So thanks to the forums, my day went on without a hitch. No problems since and a couple of sessions since then of hitting the rev limiter.

Anybody help! I have a 2008 EVO and I literally drive it like I stole it sometime ( mine is completely stock) I accelerate like literally step on it and the rpms go up then down then back up I was reading it could be a leaking hose or I need new spark plugs. I really am not the kind of guy that knows too much about cars. i know to change the oil and put full synthetic but that's about it

I'd have to agree with your car is probably fine.

Rpms go up then turbo hits around 3500 then car tries to accelerate but doesn't that well. Feels like its skipping. Oh and it does it on every gear makes me pist. I'm saving to get ready to put the exhaust intake and tune so I can get some real power

That sounds like a slipping clutch...

^^^ That is def a clutch. Drive it very easy and don't hit boost if you want it to last another month or so. Start saving your pennies since you will need to spend around $1400ish and then you might also need a CMC which could def add on another $500.

Yea thats the clutch. I'm having the same issue, well mine is worse now. But when it first doing it, i was questioning whether it was the clutch or tune, turns out it was the clutch. Take it easy until you can get a new clutch.

Well guys that's horrible news but thanks so much for the advice. I bought the car from the dealer used a month and a half ago and I bought full warranty if anything messes up they fix it.(sucks for them) So I'm going to the dealer first thing Monday. I've already taken the car twice and they replaced the map sensor they said it was running too rich or too lean and another time it was a loose hose and air was escaping. I haven't modified it at all so warranty still covers it. My mom keeps tellin me get a charger or a camaro she says the EVO is too much hassle but i love the EVO and id rather lose my gf of four years than my EVO! Evo Ftw!!!!

your clutch wont be coverd under warrenty. It's about a $1200-1400 job from the dealership, plus the clutch. So your looking at about $2000. The CMC (clutch master cylinder) is the cylinder that runs from the clutch pedal to the clutch line. 9 times out of 10 it will snap with a aftermarket clutch.

Hi guys,

Everyone is correct. My car is fine. I was super paranoid and it was re-assuring to hear positive feedback from everyone. I didnt drive her for a week (I carpool to work with a friend and it was his turn to drive that week) but started her up today and no problems.

I did have ASC OFF (1 step to prevent throttle cut under hard cornering) when I was hitting the rev limiter a week prior.

Does ASC on or off really matter with the fuel cut/rev limiter?

Also, did someone try to hijack my thread with a slipping clutch question? hahaha
