2008 and Under Display mod

Hey Guys Long time Lurker here, had a question about the Evo's 2008 and Under, the display in the middle of the Dash is red Colored but the 2009 + have it in blue and White, My question is since i couldnt find it here is is there a mod or something to take the red in dash display and make it to be like the New Models Blue and White Color Display? Thanks in Advance if this question was already answered.

It's not just blue and white, it's a multi-color display, so I'm not sure if you could modify the older red displays without completely replacing it.

You CAN replace it with a newer one, but you would have to replace the whole cluster. AND, you would have to have it done a shop that would reprogram the correct miles into the new cluster since the mileage is stored in the gauge cluster.

Basically, it is really expensive and not really worth it.

Or you could do what I did: total it and buy a 2011.

I'm glad they switched to the color display. I thought the red was very ugly. Looked like an Atari video game or something. Did they not have the colored technology back then? Was it too expensive to put in a colored display? Just dont understand why they used that red display. I guess some people liked it

My guess is because other car manufacturers are phasing out the red displays in their higher end vehicles.

Actually Audi was the first that started making their dash lights with red. Their reason behind it comes from fighter jet cockpits. The red color is better for your eyes at night. Find and older car with say ,white gauge clusters. Go drive at night, then while driving look at bluster then back at the road. You'll have a washout. Then look at the red st night, no washout. Just makes it easier transition from lookin at lights to darkness.

All combat vehicles that have black out lights, either have red or green interior lights for this same reason.

Thanks for the info guys, the red display is ok but the color display just looks so much better, was curious if it was worth buying a 2008 or just wait for a 2009+ evo

Just an FYI on this post, there are no 2009 Evo X's in North America They were 2008 models until 2010.
