Need help! Looking for pictures of stock turbo inlets
Need help! Looking for pictures of stock turbo inlets
Recently we turned one of the shop cars into a T2 SCCA car to run this year. Martin Musial, president of AMS, drove the car and took first place for the T2 series at Road America (June Sprints). This was his first national event and extremely exciting for all of us here at the shop.
After the race was over Martins car was contested by Cooper Macneil. Cooper is the son of the owner of WeatherTech floor mats for those that have heard the name. The WeatherTech team contested the turbo that was on Martins car.
We removed the turbo trackside along with the turbo inlet, exhaust manifold, and turbo outlet and turned it over to the SCCA for inspection.
All of the parts on Martins car have been exactly to spec per the SCCA rulebook. When inspecting the turbo inlet they deemed it to have been "modified" because there are a few grind marks from the removal of casting flaws from the factory. After looking at a few other stock turbo inlets we found the same grind marks. We knew full well that we did not do any grinding to our part but we need to prove it.
We are now going to appeal the call but I need some help from some of fellow evo 10 owners.
I have a couple of stock units sitting around the shop here and they look identical to the unit that came off the car. If any of you have a turbo inlet in the garage, would you mind posting a similar picture? It would help us a lot in this battle.
The first 5 people with a 2008 Evo 10 that can post pictures along side your username and the tag of the production date will get a free t-shirt!
Post the picture and PM me your info and ill send a shirt out (size, name, and address)

I can do one better, first pic was the original turbo, the second pic was a second turbo that was replaced entirely by Mitsu, including the elbow in 2009. 2 different elbows, with 2 different 'marks'.
