Autozone Drive Belt Options

Im going to replace my drive belt soon and was wondering if you guys had any problems with these belts from autozone?

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-jt3u5Zapsy5

Also, Iv read about the belt tensioners cracking and people replacing them with hyundai parts? How often does this happen?

yes, replace the tensioners with Hyundai metal ones. The oem plastic ones don't crack but they do wear and the belts slip and die.

It's always awesome to put parts on ur car from autozone. In fact, they have some great exhaust units u should add to your x as well...

And yes I'm being extremely sarcastic

And wrong, at least as it relates to the serp belts. The autozone belts, same as NAPA, work just fine, are cheap and have been fine for road racing.

I guess that's where you and I differ. I have a 40k high performance car...I don't look for the "cheap" way out. Remember, u get what u pay for. Second...where do u pull these figures from? "they are same as napa"? Are they? Do u know because u were there when they were made and tested? No you weren't. Third, make a not to your self, there is no talk of road racing...keep it to the track.

I personally never had an issue with autozone drive belts in any car. As long as its changed in the recommended interval it shouldn't be a big deal.

BTW, road racing specifically refers to racing on a road course track.

Wow, Lot's of enthusiasm for a guy with 25 posts. Road Racing is racing on a track, a road course. Examples are Watkins Glen, Limerock, Poconos, NJMP, that sort of thing.

lol, we should be so lucky as to only have $40k invested in the car. And, as any competitive driver knows, you do get what you pay for and part of that process is to make sure you are committing racing budget to those items that actually matter. Serp belts are important but cheap and there's not much difference between different manufacturers. Our actual racing experience shows, the belts from NAPA or Autozone work just fine on the racetrack.

That said, your experience might be different and you should probably stick to OEM, as your souped up street monster might be stressing the limits of your average serp belt while you rev limit your car between stop lights trying to impress girls, all while running to the grocery store for more bread and lemon tea for your mom.
