Extremely Hot Fenders

Took my evo out tonight for a little cruise. Did a few wot pulls, but nothing too crazy. When I got back home, I was just walking around the car and noticed both the driver and passenger fenders were extremely hot. Much hotter than the hood. Any reason for this to be happening? Just got a little worried since I've only had it for a week and a half.

Tires rubbing? I'm guess by wot pulls you were heading in a straight line. You can check the inside edge of the fenders for rubber from the tire but it sounds unlikely and even if they were rubbing I wouldn't expect the whole fender to get hot - and presuming you don't see fire...you should be fine.

Lol no fire. I wouldn't think the tires would be rubbing, it's at the stock height with stock suspension. I'll double check after work today just to make sure. Seems to be abnormally hot though, paint shouldn't be affected should it?

They are aluminum and I dont think there is any insulation between the engine bay and fenders...also front brakes put in A LOT of work since they are so damn big and a lot of heat comes from that...I've never really touched my fenders but my guess is its fine...

I think this is really what it comes down to.. The hood has some heat protection and I believe that it also has two "layers" to move water around that tries to come in the hood or whatever..

The fenders don't have anything like that.. I wouldn't worry about it personally. Shouldn't be a big deal..

I noticed that it does get quite warm on our fenders as well. I got bigger opening side vents as well as removed my two metal water shields from the front hood vents. It really does allow do more heat to escape

Yea that's true, the heat from the brakes and engine must just really heat up the fenders. Car is driving great, so guess there's no need to worry, thanks.
