Thinking of upgrading few parts

Hey guys,
It looks like I am going to go against my better judgment and start moding my 2012 MR. My question is, if I were not to touch the exhaust and just change the intake, IC Piping, IC and have the car tuned would I get good power gain?

I really am not looking to touch the exhaust, I just want to know if my investment would be worth it or not without touching the exhaust as far as power gains go.

Also if I do go with these mods I am going to stay with one manufacturer for everything, who would you recommend? I know AMS is one of the best but there prices are very high. I am looking for something that works and is reliable.

Thank you.

Hey Blue, I'm about to purchase my MR(the 22nd!) and I asked a similar question and got some good answers. Some along the lines of what you are asking, take a look! https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ck-evo-mr.html

Some recommend IC piping, IC, intake and tune for good gains and some also say a TBE + DIF(Drop-In Filter) and pro-tune are also good. After extensive research myself I'm going with a TBE, DIF, and pro-tune from a reputable tuning shop near me.

I suggest checking out the Dyno Results forum and check what gains people are getting with their mods, that should give you a really good idea what to expect. Just keep in mind which dynos they use, obviously some read higher/lower than others, etc.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the info.
I also had a conversation with Mike at RRE and he had some great information for me. I am really not after dyno numbers, I just want a little more out of my daily driver. I have had and am building high HP cars so that is not my goal here.
Mike was very honest with his suggestions which make sense, he told me with my list of parts I will be out of allot of cash without much gain. Mike's suggestion is to just do a drop in filter, boost solenoid, modified stock muffler and a tune which is what I will go with.

Go with whatever Mike@RRE tells you. That guy is a legend and a genius.

I have a cobb AP, Cobb high flow cat, and AEM intake. Each one of them has made a huge difference in the feel of the car. I am looking for a UICP, 3-port, and pro-tune to be 100% satisfied with modding that car.

You will see very nice gains from a tune. Single best thing you can do for the car. As far as pipes, really only the uicp is needed, especially for the mods you are thinking of. An intake should net you around 5-10hp and some nice extra sound from the car.

I would urge you to reconsider about not changing the exhaust. Exhausts really open this car up and there are ones out there designed to be quiet as well. A cat back will not void the warranty either. Just food for thought.

But to answer your question, an upper intercooler pipe, intake, and a tune will make a very noticeable difference in your car.
