why wingless?

I have been around Evo's since 2004 so I have seen my fair share.
I loved having a wingless RS and I've grown to like the wing on my SE. Whatever floats your boat.
I happen to think that the color of the car sometimes dictates the level of attention it will receive. Something out there like a bright red, electric blue, or white (out of sheer visibility) will show all sorts of aspects of a vehicle (including the wing) that a more subdued color like a gray, silver, or black otherwise wouldn't.
My car is Mercury Gray which at first look seems like a typical sedan color until you get close to it and notice the pearl and bluish hue (if the car is clean that is). So unless you know the car you just kinda skip over and that also includes the wing. Its like you almost don't see it as being out there and excessive unless you were really looking at it.
I found myself just looking at the car as a package and not really see the wing because of the color. Now on a red or white one you spot that sucker quick.

Experience maybe? Estrogen matches testosterone levels so that comes with a side of aggression of the good kind? You probably won't have to blow a fortune to retain attention (you actually do the opposite). There's some nice cougars out there and I don't mean the XR-7s
That said you buy a car because you like it not because someone else might like it that's what being an enthusiast is about.
Also for the record most girls my demographics (20-30) don't quite care about a 4 door sedan with a tacky looking wing on it. They go for the Z's, the Boxsters, and the Infinitis, in other word the bling.

I think the car doesn't look complete without something on the trunk. looks empty.
In all fairness, I got far less attention in my bright red (wingless) RS that I do in the GG SE. This goes for everyone, not just cops or folks who tend to notice such things. The RR RS, looking stock, was essentially invisible. My gray SE, looking stock, attracts attention seemingly everywhere. At times, it's like sitting in a fishbowl.
I agree, but then again I think the car doesn't quite look right without the high rear wing. I'm 48 years old (yikes), and debated for a long time whether I should even purchase this type of car, as it attracts people (i.e. women) in the wrong demographics for me. But, when you're a car enthusiast, you tend to put those things aside and go for something that stirs you. Besides, if you look and act young, why try for 48 year women when you can get two 24 year old's?
Funny this came up. Went on a second date with a girl last night. I parked right in front of the bar we met at. First thing she said when she walked in was "Why did you put that BIG thing on the back of your car?" I said I didn't, it came like that. then she said "You know that wing doesn't make your car faster." LOL I said, well actually tests show it is a little faster on the track with the wing. Then she says, and I HATE when people say this, "Are you on a track?" Well the statement was it doesn't make it faster, not whether I am on a track. It's part of what the Evo is. I know I know, the MR doesn't have it, it also shifts itself.
The RS didn't due to weight savings I am sure and probably figured people racing them were going to put a proper adjustable wing on it.
Then as I was walking her to her car (A Honda CRV
) I looked at my car under the shimmering street lights and said "Damn she is beautiful" and the girl said, "She is ugly and it's not even a race car!" LOL What did I do? I asked her on another date for this Saturday which I am picking her up for and the goal is that after the first on ramp she will never talk to me again and will need a change of panties (And not for the GOOD reason.) Yokahama 08's 265's getting installed Friday, it's going to be a good test for their traction level.
As for attention. I don't notice any more attention from cops then when I had my Range. Although I am 42 but they don't know that. It does help block some bright headlights at night. The only way I would go wingless would be do luck trunk lid. As far as what girls like? Who The cares. If I wanted their opinion I would give it to them. I had the fancy cars and they didn't get me anymore girls than I can get now. Girls may have their opinions on cars but if they go out with you or don't based on your car, it's only going to be a mess in the future. There is always going to be somebody with a better car.

2010 here.. Back when the lancer wing came on some GSR's.. So, **** that pile of ****! Vinyl cutouts for my trunk.. I'll either get a trunk lip or I'd consider buying the high wing if I can find one for a reasonable price
