why wingless?
Yeah but the NSX exudes awesomeness. To think of it NSX sounds like awesomeness. Awe (N) some (S) ness (X). There that's what NSX stands for.
There's a guy at work with a MINT black 97 NSX and that car is straight up classy. May not be as fast as your alternative but 100% driver involvement.
I'd do that.

And this car also comes with: Roll cage, 6 point harness ,special engine and transmission, special brakes, poly carbonate rear and side windows, no rear seat, no AC or stereo, increased horsepower and torque, ungoverned speed of 190 mph, is built by hand, and should i mention.....none have been sold in the USA?
Now, if Mitsu offers a hand built track model, out-sourced to a fabricator like the M3 GTS, Im sure it would offer a true, track specific wing. But it wouldnt be a "stock" Evo.
And.....it wouldnt be offered in the USA thats for sure.
If I go back to a wing, it will be a high performance, track specific type wing that is removable.
I like wings, I just dont like or need the attention from all the pimply faced, hip hop wannabe, genitalia deficient, children that like to stare at them (Oh, and the police too).

But nothing compares to a good V8. If I could find the car that had one, that was reasonably priced and made by the Japanese, I would switch today.
If Toyota would shove their excellent V8 into a Camry or Corolla with a 6 speed manual transmission, rear wheel drive train, beefed up chassis and suspension to match, with all needed aero-effects etc I would be a Toyota customer.
And I wouldnt put a wing on itl-
Ive driven 4 cylinders for the past 15 years, 9 of them forced induction, and all 15 of them have been great especially the turbo years.

Do you also consider this not stock?

How about this?

Something not being sold in the US has nothing to do with stock or not so I'm not sure why that was thrown in there. Lol@if it's not in the U.S. it doesn't count.

If someone can go to the dealership and write a check for it then it's stock. It's just a track ready version of the car. Just like the Boss 302 Laguna Seca, which is also stock...
He just said if Toyota did this, he would go for it. I guess he might be driving a American V8 like you have mentioned. Japanese seldom put a big engine in a sedan like the America did. It might be nice to have a V8 in a sedan, but I prefer a V8 plus twice turbo.

I disagree.
An Evo GSR or MR is a "stock" from the factory, base model car. That includes the brembos, trans, turbo, AWC etc, stiffer chassis, high performance suspencion etc etc.
It has a few options ie stereo or aero kit.
A Lancer DE is also "stock", from the factory.
The M3 GTS is not a stock, from the factory car. Its hand made.
The Boss 302 Laguna Seca is not a "stock, base model" car either. Its a highly specialized, limited production car crafted by special teams and outside vendor participation. Only 750 a year will be made for a 2 year run.
To me, "stock" is base model vehicle with a few options.
From the factory or not, any car that is race purpose specific, hand crafted or highly reworked for the track, is NOT "stock" and usually requires special shops and production teams to assembly them even for Ford. In fact, Ford is famous for this and has been for decades.
Available from the dealer yes, stock no. Just as the Shelby 350-R of the 1960s was not stock. Available from a dealer ys. Stock no.
As for the Ariel Atom? A limited, low production vehicle that is for all intent and purposes....."hand built."
Many of its models dont include a wing by the way. And could easliy beat your
Evo equiped with a wing. Just Saying.....
For that matter once upon a time one could by a Rouch Mustang from a Ford dealer (albiet only in FL), turn key off the lot. But that doesnt make it stock either.
My comment about "Not being sold in the USA" has nothing to do with "stock" other than a lot of high performance cars are not available in the US ie the
Ford RS200, which certainly wasnt stock, but available to the public from the dealer, if fortunate enough to find and afford one.
The M3 GTS may come wthl all advertised and paid for items, but it certainly isnt a stock vehicle. It is a limited, hand made, highly specialized and expensive vehicle.
My experience over a lifetime has been there are stock base model cars, there are highly optioned cars (not stock), there are high performace special purpose cars (certainly not stock), and custom, hand crafted cars ie AMG, Rouch, Saleen etc (obviously not stock).
Thats how I know it, and my contemporaries understand it having witnessed the heyday of the 60s, Shelb yetc., the glumness of the 70s and home built V8 Vegas and V8 Chevy Luvs, the rebirth of the muscle car in the 80s, SRT and SVO, and the arrival of high performance cars from Japan in the 90s onwards (thank God).
I understand your experience is different than mine, and therefore your perception of life around you.
I suppose we can agree to disagree.
PS My original point stands, the stock M3 will beat a stock Evo....no wing needed.

Ive owned a lot of American cars,a nd driven even more.
For my money, at this point, I prefer Japanese cars for their build quality, excellence in competition, and dedication to performance and competition while American manufacturers lost their vision and mission to their cutomers, and to compete.
