why wingless?
I dont like EVOs with no wings unless the car is done proper making it look legit, personally the wing is what makes the car stand out and gives it its character as an EVO, its like seeing the STI with no wing it just looks like a dump subie
I disagree.
An Evo GSR or MR is a "stock" from the factory, base model car. That includes the brembos, trans, turbo, AWC etc, stiffer chassis, high performance suspencion etc etc.
It has a few options ie stereo or aero kit.
A Lancer DE is also "stock", from the factory.
The M3 GTS is not a stock, from the factory car. Its hand made.
So being "hand made" makes it not stock. Like a Bently or a McLaren, which are actually hand made. Gotcha
The Boss 302 Laguna Seca is not a "stock, base model" car either. Its a highly specialized, limited production car crafted by special teams and outside vendor participation. Only 750 a year will be made for a 2 year run.
To me, "stock" is base model vehicle with a few options.
The Evo has the same amount of/more differences between it and a DE than a C350 and a C63 AMG(Which, below, you say is also not stock).
From the factory or not, any car that is race purpose specific, hand crafted or highly reworked for the track, is NOT "stock" and usually requires special shops and production teams to assembly them even for Ford. In fact, Ford is famous for this and has been for decades.
Evo definitely isn't made for racing at all with those mushy unsupportive seats, ****ty brakes, advanced AWD system, aluminum body panels, etc... Gotcha. If only they could have outsourced someone else to remedy those problems...
Available from the dealer yes, stock no. Just as the Shelby 350-R of the 1960s was not stock. Available from a dealer ys. Stock no.
As for the Ariel Atom? A limited, low production vehicle that is for all intent and purposes....."hand built."
Buggati. Not stock. Gotcha.
Many of its models dont include a wing by the way. And could easliy beat your
Evo equiped with a wing. Just Saying.....
My wing was removed the first month I got the car. Had a GTS before that and took the wing off it too. Just saying...
For that matter once upon a time one could by a Rouch Mustang from a Ford dealer (albiet only in FL), turn key off the lot. But that doesnt make it stock either.
My comment about "Not being sold in the USA" has nothing to do with "stock" other than a lot of high performance cars are not available in the US ie the
It really does suck that we don't get a lot of good cars here
Ford RS200, which certainly wasnt stock, but available to the public from the dealer, if fortunate enough to find and afford one.
The M3 GTS may come wthl all advertised and paid for items, but it certainly isnt a stock vehicle. It is a limited, hand made, highly specialized and expensive vehicle.
My experience over a lifetime has been there are stock base model cars, there are highly optioned cars (not stock), there are high performace special purpose cars (certainly not stock), and custom, hand crafted cars ie AMG, Rouch, Saleen etc (obviously not stock).
Thats how I know it, and my contemporaries understand it having witnessed the heyday of the 60s, Shelb yetc., the glumness of the 70s and home built V8 Vegas and V8 Chevy Luvs, the rebirth of the muscle car in the 80s, SRT and SVO, and the arrival of high performance cars from Japan in the 90s onwards (thank God).
I understand your experience is different than mine, and therefore your perception of life around you.
I suppose we can agree to disagree.
PS My original point stands, the stock M3 will beat a stock Evo....no wing needed.
Agreed. There are plenty of stock cars with and without a wing that could beat a stock Evo.

From what you mentioned in this post "non-stock" is being hand built. Then it's exclusiveness. Then it's price. Then it's how many differences between it and the cars base model. Then it's the cars intent of use. Then it's if the company outsourced some of the work. I'm just confused by it all.
I am taking the big spoiler off soon and getting the trunk holes filled and then painted. Now I'm considering putting on a Rexspeed fully painted duckbill spoiler, it's either that or nothing at all. Thoughts? I like the look of the duckbill, but a spoiler attached with tape scares me... Anyone who has one please comment!
On a side note, if any of you big wing loving crazies are interested in a PB wing, PM me

That's going a little far [referring to the now-deleted, previous post]... It's one thing to have an opinion, another to call people out like that. I've gone with holes, that I've covered up with vinyl, and a good number of my friends have as well..

Hahaha true! I'm sure we all did for the attention that it's an Evo. However, I think the tail also makes you stand out even more, especially the cops. I'm glad I've only gotten pulled over once since I owned the car(a little more than a year) and right after he looked at my license and registration, he immediately let me go with a warning for not having a front plate.

I think the front plate for EVO is special since most car have to put the plate right in the front.
You should put one.
I bought an MR and unfortunately it came wingless. I thought about buying the EVO spoiler but it's over $2k, so I got the Ralliart/Lancer spoiler (low). I'll be having a shop install it Monday. I like the look of a wing. Without it I feel it looks like another white sedan.
That's funny! My wife told me a couple weeks ago she expects to see the high wing on my car for next year.. Mine came with the low lancer wing. So in in the process of getting the high wing.. Happy wife, happy life right? Hahaha
