Has everyone ever heard of this place or know if they are a trusted tuning shop?
http://www.grossmantuning.com/

I live in Louisville and if I do get put those parts back on the evo this is the only place I found that looks good.

Also say I do get the parts put back on and I do get it tuned... say something does go wrong. Has anyone ever removed the parts and the tune before taking it in so the warranty will cover it? If so how did it work out? If it was a bad tune or something could someone tell thats what caused it if it were to be removed?

With just a few bolt-ons and stock turbo...

Sounds like lean burn, knock and the load of slightly uphill in a load heavy gear. The knock and lean burn could of been resolved with a tune.

So they will either claim it was caused by tuning or by aftermarket parts creating too lean of a mixture. All of that will fall on not covered by warranty. However, you might luck-out with that aftermarket warranty

It's probably a great shop but...

I'd go somewhere that specializes in Evo tuning.

If the engine blew a week after you bought the car, you should tell the dealer you are returning it. Your financial paperwork has probably not even gone through the bank computers etc so there is time to cancel everything. Don't take no for an answer, see a lawyer.

You got one thing correct: "see a lawyer." The rest is utter nonsense.

Why dont you just get a cobb access port and use the OTS tunes they have. Look at my mods list, car runs great once I get a bigger turbo I will go to ams and get a professional tune but for now my car runs perfect and has for 2 years sinc I started modding it.

ETS LICP
ETS UICP
ETS 3.5 Black Intercooler
ETS Recirc DP
ETS v2 Normal Exhaust
ETS High-flow Cat
AMS Intake
Defi Boost Guage
Prosport Wideband
Copp Ap stg 2
Eibach Pro Kit

I only asked the hill question because going up hill increases load on the engine and can turn a bad situation into a worse one. I hope you have learned something here. You may not even need a lawyer if you tell them you will be speaking to your lawyer. Good luck I hope you get your engine replaced without having to come out of pocket. Get that thing tuned as soon as you do. Tuning may seem expensive to you, but its cheaper then an engine as you have found out. I paid to have my tuner flown in last time, good tuner is worth every penny.

I spun a rod berring 8 days after buying my VIII a couple years ago. The dealership really has no legal responsibility here but if they value there reputation they will take care of you. Mine did and covered most of the cost of the engine replacement. Silly warranty company covered $3k dealership covered $3k+ and I payed $600 out of pocket for things like new belts water pump had the head worked etc. I did buy it from a Lamborghini dealership. They also specialize in used sports cars. Evo was like the least nice car on the lot. Took 7 weeks to fix it though. Mostly that was waiting for a new short block.

Why does every other post boil down to advising the OP to lie? Ignoring the legal side of all this, do any of you have any honor at all?

Hes not lying he bought a car from a dealership with mods already on the car they told him his warranty covers it.

Sometimes you don't get things the easy way, but sometimes you need to accept what happens because of the decisions you made prior. If you buy a used Evo that "looks" stock, but has a few bolt-on mods. You're taking a gamble. If the gamble favors the house win, that sucks, but it's the way it goes.

If more people stopped buying used Evo's that had mods, or just stuck to a low-ball offer to the dealer when the see one with some mods, dealerships will be forced to let them go for less. If that happens, then you account for the gamble-loss based on your purchase savings.

Like Iowa was saying, ignoring the legal side of this. Which is just pointing out the poor ethical advice given. As far as *this* case. I'm with you, they put a warranty on the car with mods, they (the warranty company) needs to cover this. Then if they no-longer wish to cover his car they need to prorate back his warranty cost

This is why I bought a new Evo even though I knew I would be loosing thousands when I drove it off the lot. The money lost is worth the peace of mind IMO.

Sorry to hear this OP. Keep us updated with the situation.

Yea... buying a used Evo is gamble at times. Only b/c you don't know the full history. Good luck with everything! I would be sick to my stomach.
