Driver door rattles when window is UP

Hi everybody,

I understand that the rattle issue has been widely discussed, and I spent many an hour searching and researching this issue. I can't find an answer, so here I am.

I have a 2013 Evo GSR with only like 1400 miles, and my driver door rattles quite a lot when the window is fully UP. It tends to vary depending on how smooth the road is and what music I'm playing. I fully understand that it's an Evo, and will rattle, and I have accepted rattles in other areas. But this one feels like its right next to my left ear, which is why it's bugging me.

At first, I thought it was the seat belt mechanism, so I added a piece of felt per the sticky on this forum. Still there.

Any ideas/suggestions/fixes would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking about going to the stealership, but then again, that's exactly what they are. It looks like the TSB fixes the issue when the window is down, which is why I'm stumped.

I suppose I can rip off the plastics and try to troubleshoot from there. I was just curious to see if any fellow Evo owners have had the same situation, and if so, how did they fix it.

I will also keep everybody posted if I find something as well!

Dang, that's annoying for sure. It's so new, take it back to the dealer and let them adjust it. If you try messing with it and they can tell.. they might give you crap if you need to get it fixed.

Thanks for the tips... looks like I'll just try the dealer. Hopefully they can take care of it!

There is TSB for this problem. The bolts holding the glass werent torqued properly at the factory.

Since you are under warranty its a no brainier. I think its a half hour of labor.

This exactly. Been a problem since 2008. They actually replace with different bolts, fixes the problem immediately. It's super annoying!

Apparently, the rattle decided to go away right when I get to the dealer. They tried to replicate, I tried to replicate, nothing. I got in the car and slammed the door shut in anger, ready to leave.

Rattle comes back! I quickly called the service manager over, and they were able to replicate/hear the rattle. The technician working on my car said that I had bolts missing from the door (I assume they rattled themselves loose and escaped), and that he added them back, retightened everything on the door, and even added more insulation/tape. He didn't want to take apart the door until he heard the rattle. I guess that makes sense.

I drove to work and heard zero rattles, so hopefully it's fixed. If not, I will bring it back.

They also mentioned that the TSB is only for rattles when window is DOWN. Odd, since it sounds like a similiar situation. It was fixed under warranty regardless.
