Bad fuel relay possibly, with too high of load/boost. That will do the trick.

im interested in this. Although i have never personally had work done at KT i know MANY people that have and they are like IKT said a high quality shop. im thinking a fuel relay went bad of a line popped off somewhere that would make the car over boost.

That would definitely do it.

Just for the people saying those are low numbers... The dyno used was a dyno dynamics not a dynojet. 310whp on a dyno dynamics is like 360whp+ on a dynojet. Yes still low to blow up the engine but just to clarify that. OP, keeps us updated !

Its going to cost a pretty penny. Prolly 6 to 10K depending on parts and whats done... labor cost if your BIG big variable..

Good luck

Still doesnt make the tuner any good. Hundreds of people recommended clipse and my engine only lasted 12,000km (3 months) with his tune before it blew.

Kaizen tuning is reputable shop.
I personally saw at least a half dozen of kaizen tuned evo x modded up the yin yang when I was at Boston mass tuning meet last year. Very impressed, shop owner was st ghe meet forget his name. he seemed like a straight up fuy with a top shop, although Any shop can make an error & should have no issue with correcting your friends problems. If you present it calm & not flip out.
If the polite nice route gets you nowhere, lawyer up forget small claims. Although you could recover up to 5k depends on Boston laws. Don't let people tell you your out of luck not true. Just file an information subpoena with local court. This will help you locate kaizen business account, so if you sue & win you freeze the account & your friend gets paid. This will not be easy, but eating 6k+ isn't a plus.
Good luck op.

I love these kinds of stories. Here I will sum up a majority of these types of stories:

You don't have a tune, your **** is gonna blow up.
You have a tune, your **** is gonna blow up.

I blame the OP on this one. If you have been on this site you should've known this was gonna turn into a a bs thread. LOL.

Seriously log off the internet and don't post until a post mortem is done. People can then pick apart the post from there. No point in speculating.

Good luck but it sounds at minimum like the bottom end will need to be replaced. Not sure how different it is for Evo X owners but pan on spending at least 8k by the time everything is said and done. This is a new block, new internals, labour, any of the requisite things to replace when rebuilding a motor (For Evo VIII-IX guys its all tiiming components, new fluids naturally, a new oil cooler for added insurance).

It won't be cheap and it won't be quick.

Damn, sucks to hear man. I'm not honestly sure I can shed any more light that hasn't been said already. Sub'd to see the outcome.

A good shop will turn down work a customer is requesting if they deem it unsafe, unless a prior arrangement of expectations and responsibility is made.
All things being made equal, at the end of the day doesn't the no responsibility waiver for the tune take the win? This is of course considering it was the tune and not the parts/mechanical work.

Quick question, let's say it was the relays that cause it to blow, (putting on the flame suit and throwing the hail mary haha) would the Mitsubishi warranty pay for it?

Your friend lost his warranty as soon as he modded that car. No way is Mitsu helping out.
