Yea, its hard sometimes to get them to warranty anything.. much less a modded and tuned car..

The mods aren't really the deal breaker.. Once you tune it the engine warranty is gone.. Which is what you are going to need..

Chances are that Kaizen did a good job on the tuning. They do quite a few X's and have a good reputation. Just talk to Scott about finding the cause. It will help everyone in the community because this is a strange engine failure. Its going to be expensive! They are good people and are not in business to screw anyone. Good luck!

In addition to what other's have said, there were TSBs that were out for replacing relays in wintery areas, and ultimately, regardless of how unrelated it was to the climate, Mitsubishi, has, and will use that to nullify any claims of faulty relays.

But it doesn't hurt to try.

While I agree that your tune was probably ****, by your statement above, neither of you knew what you were doing, so your just as much at fault as he was. Regardless, your tune wasn't the sole reason your motor dropped a valve, so stop trying to say it was.
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly would torque have to do with hurting/dropping a valve?

I meant to put the hp and the tq figure to show that he was pushing the limits of the stock block as is.

To answer your question though, nothing. Valve damage is usually a result of something timing related (timing belt/chain breaking/non-interference head), FOD, improper installation, or knock.

Look up the TSB (probably a good idea to print and take with you) and then just say you have difficulty starting when it's real cold out, or whatever the TSB says the symptoms are and you should be taken care of. It's what I did and they switched me out to the, at the time new blue relays.

Yes, TSBs are similar to recalls, but not mandated, and dealers only consider them if you are exhibiting the "symptoms".

Doesn't hurt to go in an check. Mine were replaced outside of warranty even though they didn't have to.
