For those of you with ACD pump failures (merged)
I am torn here...I purchased the relocation kit for my pump but debating whether or not I should move my pump now or wait for it to fail, hopefully get it covered under warranty and put the new pump in the trunk.
When I was in the get the recall done for the heater pump, the service guy said they will cover it under warranty even with mods but I was told something different from the service manager before...
My pump has been through 1 Buffalo winter/salt. If the pump is working fine right now, should I just move it?

I say wait it out.
I just had mine replaced recently. 08 with 50k miles. Light came on. Made an appointment. Dropped it off. Local dealer is mod friendly. No more winters for the X.... Just picked up a new winter car
Bought my 2010 Evo SE used and the Service light came on for the All Wheel Drive System. Called my dealership and they tried telling me it isn't covered under warranty. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. Make them do more digging as he called me back a few hours later and told me it is now under an extended warranty.
Yes you are correct. But the ACD pump has its own separate warranty. From what I understand this problem only occurs in colder climate states. If you don't believe me call your dealership and they'll tell you the same thing. Like k said I just had mine replaced and I'm past the 5 year mark even though I only have 43,000 miles.
I would not move the pump and expect it to be covered under warranty. My Mitsubishi rep told us last year to warranty evo's we had to take pictures of all aftermarket parts or modifications to the vehicle first. We have not been declined to do any warranty repairs yet but just saying it could happen.
I was just trying to decide if I should move the pump now or wait for it to fail at the OEM location and place the new pump in the trunk.

One guy I talked to was no way in hell if it's tuned and the other guy was like sure we will cover it.
threw a c100a c1011 c1014 c1078 and u1427 code. seems to be FL tire speed malfunction and sensor issue. cleared the codes with the accessport and they haven't come back. I have heard that these codes may also be caused from a wheel bearing going bad.... anyway, shortly after clearing those codes I got a c161e code which is for acd pump failure. the car was aligned but the steering wheel is slightly off. don't know if that would have anything to do with it. any help would be appreciated.
Probably not, but have the dealer align the sensors and then see if the codes come back. Heck, they might swap your pump. I'd be surprised to see a bad wheel bearing unless you have very high miles.
yeah it's very odd. car goes in on Friday to get everything checked out. I've been driving with this pump code for about a month now. should be alright, right? lol I don't hear any crazy noises or anything. just feels as though all wheel drive may kick on or off
Incorrect. Those of us who have relocated their pumps have NOT posted any failures, here or on any site and I'm on them all. If your pump has little to no rust and you've purchased the kit, do the relocation. Four of us here in the capital of Canada with polar vortex in the preceding two years (-45C) and high salted streets have relocated. Three of us after 3+ years of owning our Evo's so our pumps were not brand new. None of us have fails regardless of using Redline or OEM...it's all due to relocating and my pump in the trunk looks like the day I relocated it.

forgot about this thread. I did relocate my pump after a year of Buffalo winter.
the pump already looked like crap when I removed it. Been in the trunk over the winter and still functions great. take Coryl's advise and relocate it. Your warranty is going to expire sooner or later.

acd pump recall
I just got off the phone with Grande prairie Mitsubishi in Alberta Canada and they told me there is a bulletin and they are fixing the issue for me for free... or hopefully... ill find out on the Feb 22, 2017

Everything was free of charge. The dealer was also surprised I'm still on the original clutch with no slipping.
